May 10–Dec 31, 2025 (UTC-5)
Montreal
Discover Transformer: Design and Energy Futures
A captivating exhibition from the Vitra Design Museum that explores the crucial role of design in the energy transition.
Energy is at the heart of our societies, but the use of fossil fuels (oil, coal, and gas) is the main cause of climate change and global warming.
For a sustainable future, we must adopt CO2-free energy sources, such as solar, wind, and water. This transition presents challenges, but design offers innovative solutions.
Transformer shows how design can rethink our energy consumption and integrate renewable energies into our daily lives.
The exhibition presents inspiring projects at different scales: from the human body to cities, homes, and modes of transportation.
Come and discover how design can shape a sustainable energy future and inspire positive changes in the way we live.

The Chinese Garden invites you to an encounter,

These three families live to the rhythm of the Chinese land, which nourishes them, connects them, and demands treasures of ingenuity and resilience.

Meryl McMaster. Aussi forte que le vent | The Biosphere, Environment Museum
Oct 1, 2024–Sep 1, 2025 (UTC-5)
Montreal
Exploring the ancestral sites of her nation as well as the environments of her daily life, Meryl McMaster explores a history inscribed in the landscape. Through a series of photographic self-portraits taken in various locations across North America, she explores her ties to her Plains Cree/Métis ancestors on her father's side, and her British/Dutch ancestors on her mother's. Through her wanderings, the artist seeks to hear the memory of ancient sites. From visiting these places and telling ancient stories, a sense of connection emerges.
Her journeys sometimes take place in unknown territories or places that have forgotten the past. Her thoughts then turn to the great migrations her ancestors made, both by land and water, to trace her history.
In her images, where her imagination is given free rein, erratic boulders become the ancient guardians of the natural world; birds, companions she cradles and guides her to the answers she seeks in the sky; Insects, witnesses to the power of life and the importance of maintaining ecological balance.
The memory Meryl McMaster carries on her back intertwines generations and lineages, geological eras and ancestral territories. It is embodied in a series of outdoor images, where the beauty of the landscapes coexists with the memories of an often devastating colonial history. As Strong as the Wind showcases the work of an artist who faces the flow of time and reconnects with those who came before her.

In the face of climate change, we are all vulnerable, but not to the same degree. Our level of vulnerability varies depending on where we live, our economic situation, and our gender, among other factors.
By exploring this exhibition designed by the Biosphère and Oxfam-Québec, learn about climate migration and explore some potential solutions.

Taking science from the other end, through images and not words. This is the original idea launched in 2010 by Acfas through its Proof by Image competition. Dedicated to images from scientific research in all fields of knowledge, this competition was expanded across Canada in 2016, thanks to the collaboration of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Science Exposed is the English-language component of the competition. Espace pour la vie celebrates life and nature and has chosen to exhibit the 20 images from the 2024 edition. Images that reveal a world of unsuspected complexity and great beauty.
The 20 images are exhibited in front of the Biodôme. Take the time to admire these true works of scientific art revealed to us by the eyes of researchers, and choose your “favorite” image by participating in the vote for the Prix du public Découverte, sponsored by Radio-Canada, before September 21!
