Saturday 7th December 2024, 2 - 3:30pm Tea & coffee will be served after the performance ABOUT Founded in 1970, the Tredagh Singers started life as St Peter's Choral Group, adopting their current name in the late 1990's. With 65 mixed voices the choir has achieved great success over the years by taking part in (and winning!) choral competitions at home and abroad. The choir has a wide repertoire spanning the range from 16th Century polyphony and the music of the 21st century, including Irish works. The Tredagh Singers believe in promoting original pieces, particularly when advancing the works of their contemporaries. A striking example of this was the success achieved at the Cork Choral Festival in 2002 with ‘Winter in Meath’ composed by Drogheda man Michael Holohan. Join Julie Duhy for a special children's workshop in Drogheda this December. The Elevating the Ordinary Children's Saturday Workshop with Julie Duhy will take place at Highlanes Gallery on 36 Saint Laurence Street. This workshop is designed to inspire creativity in children by encouraging them to see everyday objects in a new light. Drawing inspiration from Micheál O’Connell’s System Interference, children will learn to create grid-like doodles using objects such as paper clips, coins, pasta, straws, bottle caps, cotton buds, and more. By applying 'Systems interference' techniques, their doodles will transform these ordinary objects into something completely new and different. This process-based workshop aims to introduce children, aged 5-12 years, to basic concepts and ideas as they explore their creativity. The emphasis is on understanding the ideas behind the objects, rather than solely focusing on the end result. All materials will be provided, and the workshop is priced at €8 per child.
