Red Stained: The Life of Hilda Simms, the first full biography of her life and career, weaves primary research with a narrative style to tell the true story of Hilda Simms in the context of a nation gripped in the Cold War and a burgeoning civil rights movement. It is an examination of Simms's rise to fame, her drive to be a respected dramatic actress, and her efforts to create equal opportunities for people of color on stage, on the screen, and behind the camera. Come for our Free Thursday Nights at the Minnesota History Center event, experience our exhibits, and then learn a truly unique story from Minnesota’s Greatest Generation! The talk starts at 6:30 pm in the 3M Auditorium. Book signing will be available in the lobby following the talk. This program is made possible by the Maurice Stans Fund.

Our performers are dressed just like everyone else, leaving all of the guests to suspect who is a part of the show and who is not. In many instances, guests are seated with the performers and don't even realize it until they die...the performers, that is! Our Detectives proceed to interrogate everyone and find clues as the mystery unfolds. At the end of the night, prizes are awarded to the Top Sleuth who solves the crime. The Dinner Detective performs at The DoubleTree by Hilton Saint Paul East. We offer an amazing murder mystery show paired with a fantastic plated dinner. Coffee and tea are included upon request, and there is a cash-only cash bar available as well. You'll learn how these components teach core elements of improv performance, including theme, pacing, scene development, and group creation. You'll learn how to perform the Harold as an ensemble and how to find your specific approach to performance.Each class session will run from 7:00pm-9:00pm ET, with optional time available after class to discuss and debrief. Class will run from March 25th through May 13th, and we'll have a student showcase on May 20th. Prerequisites: Fundamentals of Improv Level 2 or equivalent training at another theatre (reach out if you have questions).
