What happens when a comedian walks into a volcano? In 2023, Ben Miller was the artist in residence at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, the first ever stand-up comedian ever selected. This was probably a terrible idea on their part. Come watch this show where scientist turned stand-up comedian Ben Miller explores volcanology, entomology, Hawaiian history, cats, cookies, and more. And yes that photo is real. Ben has made people laugh in front of a burning lava lake and he is not afraid of you. Ben Miller is an NYC based scientist turned comedian who has been working for the past 8 years. In that time, he has performed at all the top clubs in the city such as Broadway Comedy Club, Carolines, and The Stand. Ben was once ranked as the top roast battler in NYC. He has a degree in Materials Science and Engineering, worked on a science bus, 3D printed cookies and has defused a few bar fights while on stage. In 2022, Ben Miller's debut hour, Stand-Up Science, had a completely sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and he now tours internationally. This show is recommended for ages 18+. Either way, this session is perfect for you! Aimed at crystal beginners, this session will be led by Emily (Certified Crystal Healer and owner of Heal At Home UK). We will dive into the magical world of crystals together and uncover how crystals work and how to cleanse/charge crystals as well as getting hands on trying different methods of intuitively choosing crystals and programming a tumblestone to take home with you. There will be opportunities for journaling and reflection throughout the session as well as a quartz infused meditation/healing to close the workshop – this part is particularly special! At this open-house style event, we will come together to write messages of hope, overcoming difficulty, and resilience for those struggling with their mental health or having thoughts of suicide. Light refreshments will be provided, all ages are welcome. There are several ways to participate! You are welcome to write cards with us at the event, drop off cards with messages already in them, or mail your cards to us. Once complete, these cards will be delivered to local hospitals for patients receiving care for their mental health, as well as youth, elder adults, active duty service members/veterans, and domestic violence survivors who are facing mental health challenges. Some Pro Tips! Please do not seal your envelopes so organizations can ensure the message is appropriate for each recipient.
