Join the Ride for Your Life '23, a momentous event to commemorate the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. This ride, taking place on November 19th, will be the most significant bike ride of 2023. Last year, participants embarked on a ride in honor of Sarah Langenkamp, who tragically lost her life in Bethesda a few months prior. Due to overwhelming demand, we are thrilled to announce that the event will be held again this year. Rather than following Sarah's route to Congress, this year's ride will focus on raising awareness of the numerous traffic victims in the DC metro area. The route will pass by several crash sites that have deeply affected our community, including those for Enzo Alvarenga, Sarah Debbink Langenkamp, Nijad Huseynov, and Allie Hart. Our objective is simple: to ensure that these loved ones are never forgotten and to demand that our leaders take action to prevent further tragedies. By joining us, you will make a powerful statement to the city and the region. The more participants we have, the more our elected officials and news outlets will be compelled to pay attention. We understand that the weather may not be ideal, but the cause is too important to be deterred. As part of the event, DC and Montgomery County Families for Safe Streets will be placing new signage at crash sites throughout the metro area, increasing visibility and emphasizing the human toll of these incidents. The ride will begin at the intersection of Cheshire Drive and Old Georgetown Road, where Enzo was killed, and continue to other significant locations before concluding at Allie's crash site on Irving St. We encourage the public to join us for any part of the ride or meet us at the end for a short rally. While participation in the event is free, we kindly ask for donations to support organizations such as the Sarah Debbink Langenkamp GoFundMe and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, which work tirelessly to improve street safety.
