About Our Festival Sugar Maple Music Festival is a two-day outdoor festival in Madison that celebrates American roots music and dance through performances, educational workshops, and jam sessions. Have you always wanted to learn how to embroider but didn’t know how to start? Join us for an introductory course on embroidery using the plants of the Allen Centennial Garden! Learn a few simple stitches to create extraordinary florals and plants. We will walk you through some basic stitches to create various plants and then work with you to craft your own amazing project. You will also learn about different plant-based dyes that are grown in the garden and how they can be used to dye thread. We will have a selection of thread to choose from to use for your project as well as some to take home along with your hoop! This 120-minute project was designed for ages 18+. General Information: We recommend navigating to the Observatory Drive and Babcock Drive corner. Plan to head north on Babcock Drive. The entrance to the garden is on Babcock Drive. You are welcome to drop off in the circle but we are not allowed to park there. Galin's Summer College Application Camp (affectionately called "App Camp") is designed to help rising high school seniors get a strong start on their college applications under the guidance of a Galin Education College Counselor with the additional assistance of Galin College Essay Coaches . This best-selling program has been supporting students for over a decade by providing them with the information, techniques, feedback, and confidence to craft a college application that reflects their unique achievements and potential. During App Camp , students will: Gain an understanding of the college admissions process and how admissions officers evaluate applications. Brainstorm, write, and edit a personal statement essay that can be used with a variety of applications. Learn how to research colleges and assess chances of admission using College Planner Pro software and other resources. Work one-on-one and in small groups to complete the main sections of the Common Application . Complete an activity sheet that highlights high school awards, extracurricular activities, and leadership positions. Learn how to approach, brainstorm, and write common supplemental essays . Students and families will be invited to App Camp Orientation prior to their date to discuss the student's college list and get prepared to make App Camp the most productive experience it can be!
