The San Diego High School Baseball Classic serves as a platform for young athletes for young athletes to demonstrate their talents and passion for the game. All hands on deck foundation and Black Baseball Media joined forces to put on an event that brings the community together in a unique fashion that empowers all community stakeholders. Sixteen murals are currently on view, and each tour features more than half of these. It is a gentle walk around the village, but we ask participants to please wear comfortable shoes. Murals of La Jolla was conceived in 2010 to commission public art projects throughout La Jolla and to bring contemporary art into the community. An Art Advisory Committee, comprised of the heads of La Jolla's major visual arts organizations, invites an international roster of artists to create new artworks, all located on private property and privately funded. The program demonstrates that commissioning artists to create works for public spaces brings energy and vitality to a community. Over the past fourteen years, large-scale artworks have appeared in a variety of locations throughout the village of La Jolla, some prominently displayed while others are tucked away in more discreet locations.
