The Lifeguard One Day Recertification class is a condensed course offered by the Red Cross. This course is designed to help lifeguards update their certifications in a single day. It will be held on June 15th at the CCY venue in La Canada. The class will run from 9am to 6:15pm and will take place in a nice location with a heated pool. Participants are required to have a current Red Cross Lifeguard certification, which must be presented to the instructor upon arrival. It is recommended that participants prepare for the course by watching class review videos and completing exercises online and in the pool. It is important to note that registration for the course does not guarantee a Lifeguard Certification. Participants must pass the pre-requisite swim tests, exams, and CPR and water scenarios. The swim tests include demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing during a 300-yard breaststroke and freestyle swim, treading water for 2 minutes using only the legs, and completing a timed weight-retrieval drill. Tuition fees for the course are non-refundable if the swim pre-tests are not passed. Participants can contact the organizer, Hayley Church, at hayleychurch@cookseyswim.com for any questions.
