Learn all about the amazing red squirrels that call the grounds of Crathes Castle home. This event is suitable for children aged 4–12 years. You’ll learn what squirrel field signs are, what squirrels need to survive and why it is important to conserve this iconic species. We’ll finish with themed games to celebrate all things squirrel. Make sure to dress for the weather – we recommend waterproofs, wellies and warm layers. Duration Approximately 90 minutes. Meeting point Meet on the lawn in front of the castle, approximately 10 minutes before the event is due to begin. Accessibility While some sections of the trail are level and graded, other sections have roots, rocks, and uneven ground. Additionally, there are several steps up to the start of the trail. Stella’s Voice will be at the site between 10am and 3pm delivering a Dr Bike, Refurbished Bike Sale and Bike Amnesty to promote bike reuse and make owning and using a bike more accessible! In need of a bike? There will be refurbished bikes available to buy at affordable prices. Bike needing fixing? A qualified bike mechanic will do quick fixes to help get you back on the road! Got an old bike you are no longer using?! Donate it via the Bike Amnesty so that it can be refurbished and given a second lease of life! Providing access to cycling to those who otherwise couldn't. If you have any thoughts or questions about the North East Cycle Hub project, CycleHub.Org will be on-site to hear your thoughts or answer any questions you have. You can reserve your Dr Bike slot ahead of time on this page, but don't worry if you miss it, we still have a few spaces available on the day on a first come first served basis. A Dr Bike Includes ‘Quick Fixes’ and will include inspection of brakes, gears, tyres and an M check. This class is perfect for anyone who has recently learned to crochet. Boost your skills and learn how to work with beautiful colour changing chunky yarn. It works up so quickly that you should have most of your hat made during the class. Learn how to read patterns, how to make textural combination stitches, stretchy crochet rib and decreases for shaping your hat! We'll be using the fabulous Hana Beanie Pattern by Justine Walley from Alyse Crochet . Choose your yarn colour from a selection in store and pick a faux fur bobble from our huge selection to top off your creation! You will need to bring a 8mm crochet hook. This should ideally be a regular hook, with no handle. This is an improver level crochet class. It is suitable for anyone who can already crochet UK double OR treble crochet stitches with an even tension. This class is supported by a closed Facebook group, which offers online after-class support, where you can post your progress or seek advice as your project continues. This class is perfect for anyone who has recently learned to crochet. Boost your skills and learn how to work with beautiful colour changing chunky yarn. It works up so quickly that you should have most of your hat made during the class. Learn how to read patterns, how to make textural combination stitches, stretchy crochet rib and decreases for shaping your hat! We'll be using the fabulous Hana Beanie Pattern by Justine Walley from Alyse Crochet . Choose your yarn colour from a selection in store and pick a faux fur bobble from our huge selection to top off your creation! You will need to bring a 8mm crochet hook. This should ideally be a regular hook, with no handle. This is an improver level crochet class. It is suitable for anyone who can already crochet UK double OR treble crochet stitches with an even tension. This class is supported by a closed Facebook group, which offers online after-class support, where you can post your progress or seek advice as your project continues. From crannog to castle and conservation, this wonderfully unique experience allows you to travel through time from the Mesolithic period to the present day. You will learn about the history of the grounds and some of its incredible wildlife, all while sitting in a horse-drawn carriage. An amazing way to experience Crathes, like you’ve never seen it before! Please dress appropriately for the weather. Each carriage can hold a maximum of 6 people. This tour is suitable for all ages.
