The 36th São Paulo Biennial is curated by Bonaventure Thorbegen Ndikön, Director and Chief Curator of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. The theme of the exhibition, "Not All Travelers Walk on the Road - Humanity as Practice," is inspired by the poem "On Silence and Silence" by Brazilian poet Conceição Evaristo.
