Recent interventions have been supported and presented at The Barbican Centre, ICA, The Mosaic Rooms, TACO!, Pushkin House, Cubitt (London), CAPC (Bordeaux), and LOCALES (Rome). Tarot & the Writing Path - Part 2 | Orchard Square
Jul 5, 2025 (UTC+0)
Sheffield
This workshop is designed to follow on from Part 1. If you haven’t yet done Part 1, check the Writers Workshop event schedule to sign up. In the first of these workshops, we used the tarot as a means of idea generation, looking at character creation and personality traits, setting, and inciting incidents. Part 2 will build on this by using the tarot to determine plot events, twists and turns, and interactions between the protagonist and other characters you’ll introduce to your story. The chance element of the cards will assist with story planning, and also bring spontaneity that will open up new creative avenues of thought and action. As well as the practical tarot element there will be timed writing exercises, and also plenty of time for discussion and questions. The workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate writers also interested in tarot, whether you're looking for ways to start enhancing your writing using the cards, or you're interested in deepening an existing relationship. If you have a tarot deck of your own, feel free to bring it, but don't worry if not as I will bring a few decks along on the day. I find the variations in style and art work on the cards to be helpful inspiration, and I want you to experience this too! Prerequisite: to have attended Tarot & the Writing Path part 1. Please bring your notes from the first session as we’ll be using these to start off the timed writing exercises. About the tutor: Jools Warner is a novelist and tarot reader based in Sheffield. As a novelist, she writes fantasy fiction and paranormal romance for adults, and spooky stuff for younger readers. She did an MA in Creative Writing at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 2022 with Distinction. Her debut novel Ernie and the Mage-Killer was published in 2024 with Bellows Press, and her second novel, Shadow on Darkling Edge, will be published in 2026 with Sul Books. Tarot & the Writing Path - Part 1 | Orchard Square
Jul 5, 2025 (UTC+0)
Sheffield
This workshop will focus on exploring ways to use the tarot to guide and develop your writing. We'll look at how to use the evocative imagery of the cards for insights and guidance on the writing journey itself, and also ways to apply its archetypes and themes in fiction writing to access layers of character, setting, and story. There will be a series of practical tarot exercises to help you tap into intuition. We will then build on this so that you can apply guidance from the tarot directly to your writing. You will also get plenty of time to discuss the insights you receive from the world(s) of the tarot. The workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate writers also interested in tarot, whether you're looking for new ways to enhance your writing or interested in deepening an existing relationship with tarot. If you have a tarot deck of your own, feel free to bring it, but don't worry if not because I'll bring a few decks along. SHEFF GIRLS LIFT RETURNS | Structure Sport and Fitness
Jul 12, 2025 (UTC+0)
Sheffield
Join us at Structure Sport & Fitness on Saturday 12th July from 6pm for our next meet/lifting party/training session/social - whatever you want it to be. There will be lots of new kit to try out as we have moved gyms! There is Strong Woman equipment to try out and we have the extremely strong Laura Hollywood there on the evening to make sure we're all lifting safely. How exciting?! There won’t be any formal schedule or training plan, we just want to gather a bunch of gals in our fav gym. There is a leaderboard for 2 challenges if you fancy a go!
Experienced lifter? Come do your usual Saturday session in a welcoming room of new friends & maybe help someone out if they need it ✨
Lifting Beginner? Come try out some new equipment & new movements with guidance from totally unqualified but enthusiastic lifting pals 🥰 Or just hang out, whatever. Come ready in your gym kit & bring a full water bottle. There is a drinking water tap in the gym. We’ll collab on the playlist, so get thinking of ur fav workout bangers.
Luv Emily & Gina
