Spurred by International Women's Day, this program is a call to action for participants of all ages to connect with nature, break down barriers, and celebrate their achievements and strengths throughout the month of March. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a newcomer, the Get the Girls Out! gatherings aim to foster a community where participants can thrive outdoors, inspire one another and younger generations, forge new connections, and rekindle friendships. Grab your friends, and get ready to make unforgettable memories! Join us in San Diego, CA for a hike on March 23rd!General Trail Description: We will be hiking Bridle Trail which is 2.6 miles long and covers 187ft of elevation gain. We anticipate this hike will take 1-1.5 hours amount of time. This loop takes by the Martson Point gateway to the Martson house and Upas Street entrance, looping back via the west end park trails. You’ll pass the Pine Grove picnic area, Cypress Point picnic area, Redwood Circle, and the Bowling Green. There are a few spots along the way to stop at restroom facilities. You’ll pass Nate’s point dog park right before the Cabrillo bridge. This is considered a San Diego urban trail and has a mix of dirt and pavement as its winds throughout the west portion of Balboa Park. We will modify the start and end point of the All Trails loop to begin and end near our meeting point.- AllTrails will be providing premium codes for all hike participants and send swag to volunteers to hand out to participants! Want to learn more about this trail? Check it out on AllTrails here! Who can attend? We welcome all ages and abilities to attend this event. All paces will be honored, and we will go at the pace that best suits our entire group. The hike is categorized as “easy” on All Trails, there are steeper sections and some stairs throughout the route. The route can be easily altered to remain on paved walking paths. We welcome all women and girls (transgender and cisgender) as well as non-binary people. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event. Cost: Free! What to wear: Dress in layers to allow you to quickly and easily regulate your temperature as we move along the trail. Check the weather the day before the event to know what to expect! What to bring: Beyond the right clothing to stay comfortable throughout the hike, we additionally recommend bringing sufficient water, snacks, a headlamp, and any life-saving medication you may need. She is in her first year of a three-year tenure as Fairfax County Poet Laureate. Poetry readings enrich the museum experience by connecting visual and literary arts, and offering a space for poets, like visual artists, to reach an audience and share their work. FREE to attend. ABOUT:Angelique Palmer is a performance poet, Kindergarten Teacher, and Spoken Word instructor at Wilkes University. She is in her first year of a three-year tenure as Fairfax County Poet Laureate. A finalist in the 2015 Women of the World Poetry Slam, she’s currently ranked 19 th among the top 96 competitive poets in the world. After 10 self- published chapbooks, her first full length book, THE CHAMBERMAID’S STYLE GUIDE, debuted on Sargent Press in 2016. Her second book is the 2021 follow-up ALSO DARK on Etruscan Press. Sixteen murals are currently on view, and each tour features more than half of these. It is a gentle walk around the village, but we ask participants to please wear comfortable shoes. Our Murder Mystery Parties are an awesome alternative to the usual bar scene. It is a great way to go out on your own or with friends and meet other fun people in a super fun organized and interesting way! This week we present Murder In Vegas where what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas and everyone is a suspect! No expertise is necessary just your love of having fun! What to expect: Register below and join us at Hasta Manana Cantina at 7pm that night.Our staff will be on hand to welcome you, introduce you to others and explain how the night works.Everyone will be given a character sheet explaining who they are and how they fit into the story.Your host will guide you through the story and help you interact with the others at the event to help you solve the murder.Throughout the night different things will be revealed to help you reach your goal.****If you want to get into character feel free to dress your gangster/gambler best****** The Story What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. It has been a year since the Paramount Casino has changed ownership and Bobby Flynn, the new owner, is ready to celebrate! As the largest and most extravagant casino on the Las Vegas strip, The Paramount Casino is throwing a party of epic proportions. With the highest rollers and the gutsiest gamblers, the stakes are going to be high and there is no limit to what could happen. Everyone who is anyone in Vegas is sure to be in attendance for this grand event. From the high rolling hotel guest to the sexy show girl, the cunning cocktail waitress to Elvis himself– the guest list is as unlimited as the possibilities of how the night will end. Like everything else in Vegas, the party will be a gamble and there is no certainty to the events of the evening. Whose secrets will be exposed? Which lies will be uncovered? And who will fall victim to the lawlessness of the night? Your bet is as good as ours. Be prepared for a sinister evening in a city known for its secrets and its scandal. Can I come alone?
