First Aid for Children | Beacon Centre

First Aid for Children | Beacon Centre

Jul 31, 2025 (UTC+1)
Dudley
Family Events
HMB Training is dedicated to teaching children life-saving skills for first-aid emergencies. Accidents can happen anywhere and at any time, even when there is no adult present or available. Completing a first aid course will help any child gain confidence in knowing what to do in an emergency. We discuss the significance of dangers and how to stay safe both inside and outside the home. What to do in an emergency and how to summon an ambulance Understanding why someone may stop breathing, performing CPR, and using a defibrillator are all important steps. Understanding why someone may become unconscious and how to place someone in a recovery position Knowing how to treat a bleed and bandage a wound, as well as how to treat minor injuries Not only does first aid for children benefit others, but a British Red Cross survey found that 97 percent of young people believed first aid training would boost their confidence, skills, and willingness to act in an emergency. While we fully support the government’s plans to incorporate CPR, defibrillator awareness, and other lifesaving first aid skills into the national curriculum in secondary schools in England, we believe that a child is never too young to begin learning how to save a life and would like to see first aid taught in schools across the country. What is covered? Understanding dangers Calling for 999 and what they will ask Unconsciousness and nonbreathing CPR and Defibrillator Recovery position Burns Cuts, and minor injuries Our courses are appropriate for children aged 8 to 16. However, it is appropriate for children of all ages. For aged 14 plus children can attend our accredited Emergency First Aid Training Key information: 31st July 10:30 - 12:30. Rachel Lancaster and Laura Lancaster present... Baltic Cinema: David Lynch: The Art Life Wed 3 September | 18:30 £6 Full price / £4 Students, under 18s, unwaged and 65+ Jon Nguyen USA 2016 88’ (cert. 15)English | Digital video A window straight into the mind of much-missed director David Lynch, selected by Rachel and Laura Lancaster. A rare glimpse into the mind of one of cinema’s most enigmatic visionaries, David Lynch: The Art Life offers an absorbing portrait of the artist, as well as an intimate encounter with the man himself. From his secluded home and painting studio in the Hollywood Hills, a candid Lynch conjures people and places from his past, from his boyhood to his experiences at art school to the beginnings of his filmmaking career — in stories that unfold like scenes from his movies. This remarkable documentary by Jon Nguyen, Rick Barnes, and Olivia Neergaard-Holm travels back to Lynch’s early years as a painter and director drawn to the phantasmagoric, while also illuminating his enduring commitment to what he calls "the art life": “You drink coffee, you smoke cigarettes, and you paint, and that’s it.” "This film underscores David Lynch’s utter uniqueness." — Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian Doors open 18:30; Film starts 18:45. Baltic Kitchen is open until 18:30 for drinks, which you are welcome to take up to the cinema. Please note we cannot offer refunds on this event.
