Journey back to May 7th, 1941, a significant moment in Campsie history during World War II when the skies above witnessed intense conflict. The day marked a gripping encounter between a Luftwaffe Junkers Ju88 and a brave Boulton Paul Defiant night-fighter of 141 Squadron, culminating in the German bomber's crash on the outskirts of Lennoxtown. While two crew members perished, the other two were captured as prisoners of war. In this fascinating hour, LINDA MCINTOSH meticulously unravels this pivotal event, revealing a tale that intertwines tragedy, wartime realities, murder, mass execution and the enduring essence of compassion. Her narrative sheds light on the story of a local family's journey spanning continents, leading to an unlikely friendship with Germany nearly sixty years later. Through her tale, we witness the indomitable resilience of the human spirit, a testament to the unwavering capacity for compassion and reconciliation, even in the aftermath of the darkest chapters in human history.
