Our 2024 Show season is back! Wimbledon College of Arts is proud to announce our postgraduate design Show, an exhibition showcasing the work of MA Theatre and Performance Design and MA Puppetry graduates, taking place from 28 November - 5 December. The MA Theatre and Performance Design and MA Puppetry Show will highlight the creative response of each student to the various performance-based content and challenges they have been exposed to in their projects this year, ranging from formal theatre design to site-specific and immersive work. Building connections through the mindful practice of knitting, this group fosters creativity, relaxation, and community among postgraduate students from across UAL.Mindful Knitters is a Post-Grad Interest Group community of creative and mindful postgraduates. Both beginners and skilled knitters are welcome! Upcoming Schedule: Wednesday 27th November (Wimbledon College of Arts Library, Wellbeing Zone)Sunday 15th December (Archwood House)Meets The group aims to meet once a month on a rotational basis at each of the following campus libraries - Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon. Our meetings are designed to be a 2 hour event that includes hands-on knitting sessions, creative discussions, and ample time to connect with fellow postgraduate students in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Feel free to bring a flask of hot tea or coffee with you. At some of the meets we will also be welcoming UAL's Counselling, Health Advice, and Chaplaincy Service (CHACs), as well as the Disability Service, to participate. Activites Planned The group's activities will include knitting and crochet workshops, collaborative project planning, discussions on the therapeutic benefits of crafting, and special themed events like a Christmas gathering. The group is open to beginners and experienced knitters alike, providing a space to learn new techniques, share skills, and explore the broader implications of slow crafting on well-being and sustainable practice. Stand up comedy at the Pavilion, a sports club at the heart of Raynes Park, it is just a short walk from Raynes park station and we have a belter of a line-up for the evening: Fred Barber Fred started out in 2016 and has performed on stage with Stephen Merchant, Shappi Korsandi, Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, and Omid Djalili. Notable venues include Leicester Square Theatre, Soho Theatre, The Green Man Festival, The Comedy Store, Comedy Carnival @ Clapham Grand and many smaller clubs. Scott Kngston 31 year old married father of one who decided his young family would be far better off if I was out every week trying to be funny to strangers rather than at home having an active role in their lives. Joe Marchant Joe Marchant has been performing comedy for 6 years at London and the UK's top Comedy Clubs including the Hot Water Comedy Club in Liverpool. Marvin McCarthy Marvin McCarthy is a stand up comedian, podcaster, improviser, MC, magician, clown, who is very easygoing, where anything and everything can be expected to be seen. Geoff Alderman Geoff Alderman is a professional comedian who specialises in one liner jokes. He has written material for the BBC show Newsjacks and was joint third in the very first Dave’s UK Pun Championships.
