The 11th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art | Queensland Art Gallery

Seventy artists, collectives and projects from more than 30 countries will feature in the 11th chapter of the Queensland Art Gallery.
Developed and researched by QAGOMA’s specialist Asian and Pacific curatorial team, with collaboration from co-curators and interlocutors in the region, this Triennial will feature over 500 artworks including major new commissions by artists Jasmine Togo-Brisby, Kawita Vatanajyankur, Trương Công Tùng, Paemanu Contemporary Art Collective, Aunofo Havea Funaki and the Lepamahanga Women’s Group, Mele Kahalepuna Chun and Mai Nguyễn-Long.

Join us for an Auslan tour of Deaf in dance: feeling the beat in kuril dhagun. A State Library staff member will give a guided tour of the showcase, sharing insights about the photographs, artworks and digital stories that are on display. About the showcase Experience the vibrant and rhythmically charged world of the Deaf Indigenous Dance Group (DIDG), Deaf in dance: feeling the beat shines a spotlight on the talent and accomplishments of DIDG through an exhibition of artworks and digital stories together with photographs from State Library's collection by photo-journalist Sean Davey. 11.30am - 12.30pm, Sunday 11 August, Sunday 8 September, Sunday 20 October, Sunday 17 November | QAGOMA Join a First Nations storyteller and creative as they highlight artworks from QAGOMA’s Indigenous Australian Art Collection and explore the complex stories of history, culture and place that they tell. In this tour, explore the work of artists Robert Andrew, Iltja Ntjarra artists, artists of the Hermannsburg School, Kaylene Whiskey, Aubrey Tigan and Paddy Bedford. Facilitator: Sandy Harvey is the Public Programs Project Officer at QAGOMA. Sandy is a proud Kalkadoon woman. Free, bookings required. Capacity is limited. The tour route starts outside, and then will move inside the Gallery where the air conditioning is set to 21°C. The tour will include flat-terrain walking. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes. The route is wheelchair & pram accessible.The tour will include standing. Portable stools without backs will be available.The facilitator will use an amplified microphone. Please let us know in advance if you are hard of hearing so we can make this tour accessible for you via hearing loop.No screens or projections will be used during the event.The event may be photographed by QAGOMA staff.
