Join us to learn the Foundations of Self Defence!Have you always wanted to learn self-defence strategies? Have a general interest in martial arts or combat sports? Come and learn the basic of Self Defence in this hands- on/movement based workshop with Hastings local Georgjis Rogolevs! This is an introductory session to learn the basics of self defence. No prior experience needed and materials provided. Wear comfy clothes! During the event, you will get a chance to practice different movements and techniques and engage in partner work. Meet friends, try a new skills and leave feeling more confident! In this session you will specifically learn: The correct stance and safe distance managementHow to break out of holdsHow to defend from chokeholdsHow to protect yourself when you hit to the ground.About our facilitator: I am a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black belt and 3 times English, 3 x British and 3 x European Jiu Jitsu Champion amongst 50+ other titles. I have been teaching the art of self defence and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past 13 years with last 6 years teaching full time. I have started training to improve my fiyness, confidence and self esteem and I proudly can say this worked for me better than I expected it to be. I look forward to share my knowledge with you and hoping to meet you soon . Georgjis has experience teaching people with autism, adhd, ADD, depression, limb deformation. He is fluent in English, Russian, Latvian, Lithuanian. Your workshop ticket gets you: 1.5 hour session to learn the art of Self Defence A work out experience and the opportunity to meet new friends Snacks and refreshments A chance to ask Georgjis any questions about self defence *Please note that this is a pilot project and that the costs of workshops may change/increase in the future. *Please consider the costs of materials in your donation payment to attend a class. *Our classes are for adults aged 18+ only unless specifiied otherwise. Someone will greet you at the font of the building. There will be a 10 minute break in the middle of the session. The Invitation Masters' Regatta at CYC is the third year of a combined clubs' regatta specifically for Masters. Three races constitute the series and these races are hosted in November, February and March. Enough time to recover between each Race! The Races are scheduled for November 17, February 9 2025 and March 9 2025. All races will be raced from CYC in Freshwater Bay with the first warning signal at 10am. Racing will be followed by the opportunity to enjoy lunch and a few drinks with fellow Masters at the lovely Claremont Yacht Club. Come down and join the regular Master Laser sailors at Claremont Yacht Club. Stay on for lunch, plan some future competition, discuss going to the States, Nationals, Regatta in the Trees and other challenges! Advanced Breath-Hold Pool Training CourseBuilding on our popular Breath-hold for Survival course, or for those seeking 'cross-training' alternatives, this course / training will take you to new challenges and push you to understand your body better than ever before. Learn techniques to help deal with the ‘urge to breath’ in high stress, high metabolism situations. Designed for anyone wanting to improve their breath-hold capability in a high stress stituation, become calmer and more relaxed despite the chanllenges or to utilise as part of a 'cross-training' program. We take you through a number of class-room and pool exercises and education, which covers the physiological, mental and physical aspects of the body and mind in these situations. All of the exercises and training is done on an ‘exhale’ breath with little or no time for recovery; suitably mimicking real-life situations! This course is suited to ages (from 14) and all abilities – male and female. We tailor aspects of the day to accommodate different levels of ability and numbers are limited to a maximum of 8 per course. We also run a specific Breath-Hold for Confidence 'Kids' Course for those from 8-13.
