Water in Oil Paint | 363 Main Street Bath

Artist Shannon Dickie will guide you through the observation of colour and mixing that will lead you to create beautiful artworks.
Water is a wonderful subject for paintings. Discover techniques to capture your favourite happy place. Classes will included a Soft Pastel to warm up our colour mixing and blending skills. This will be followed by an 8x8 or 8x10 painting day on wooden board. We will wrap up the course with a 2 week painting on a 12 x 16 inch gallery canvas or panel.
All materials are included.
Class will run Mondays Noon to 2:30pm from January 13th to February 3rd. There will be a makeup day February 10th in case you need to miss a class.

• What you will learn: Brush types and strokes, wet on wet vs wet on dry techniques, understanding pigment behaviour and creating simple compositions
Week 2: Exploring Techniques and Styles
• Session Overview: Build on your foundational skills and explore different watercolour techniques. Focus on texture creation, layering, and experimenting with styles such as botanicals, landscapes, or abstracts.
• What you will learn: Techniques for lifting colour, glazing, dry brushing, masking fluid applications and style explorations through guided exercises.
Week 3: Advanced Applications and Composition
