This is a new material night from Anu Vaidyanathan whose debut show BC:AD has now toured worldwide. BC:AD (Before Children, After Diapers) is an English language stand-up comedy show and one mad, mommy's take on how the definitions of words change before and during motherhood. Through a number of stories from before she had children and after she changed loads of diapers, survived the institution called marriage and then found herself amidst two short roommates who insist on calling her 'mom', Anu paints a peripatetic picture of the life and times of a comedian, filmmaker and sometime engineer who loves endurance sports, including parenting. You're invited to celebrate the launch of the new solo exhibition Ultra-processed by Rosie James at the Hidden Wardrobe this February! Join us on Friday 14th February at 6pm for the launch event at the Hidden Wardrobe on Old Northam Road where you will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition up close and be able to meet the artist behind Ultra-processed. Ultra-processed illustrates the relationship between the body and its pixelated form, representing the presentation of bodies within the advertising industry and social media. I created this body of work through extensive processing and re-processing to mimic the planning and editing that an image of the body goes through before an audience can see it, resulting in imagery that blurs the dichotomy between beauty and the abject. After printing, scanning, manipulating, editing, plumping, saturating. painting, and re-painting,. this work is presented in a human(ish) size textile print, bringing the digital depiction back into physical space. Ultra-processed will be on display in the windows of the Hidden Wardrobe from Friday 14th February until Sunday 23rd March and will be free to visit.
