Join us for the Start-up Founders Richmond Park Bike Ride + Coffee Social! Get ready to pedal your way through the beautiful Richmond Park with fellow start-up founders. Suitable for founding team members or those considering taking the plunge into the start-up world. This event is all about connecting, networking, riding in a beautiful setting close to central London and having a great time! Hosted by Ollie Chipp from start-up fundraising specialists Mill Capital. With special guest Andrew Harding, founder of Cycle Strength, online cycling-specific personal training (https://cyclestrengthpt.com). Ollie and Andy will be taking the tarmac route for this ride but don't let that stop you from taking the gravel trail if that's your thing. For future rides, we may choose the gravel trail to mix it up. Event Details: Dates: The first Friday of the monthTime: 12.00 - 14.00 - Leaving the cafe at 12.15. We won't be checking emails. If you are late, note we'll be riding clockwise round the outer tarmac route and returning back to the cafe for coffee after lap 1, some may choose to ride a second lapLocation: The Cycle Exchange, Kingston (3 mins from Kingston station)What to expect: 1-2 low-intensity (Zone 1-2) cycling laps of Richmond Park, meet back at Colicci Cafe, Roehampton Gate for a coffee/biteJoin us for one or two relaxed laps of Richmond Park with a chance to meet, connect and talk all things start-up. Ideally suited to founding team members, or even those considering the plunge into the startup world and want to get some advice from those who are up to their necks! Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just starting, this bike ride is fine for all levels. We will be aiming for zone 1-2 tempo, so we can still chat on the way around! If you want to blitz it, fine! We'll meet you back at the cafe after for a coffee and maybe a bite. Enjoy the fresh air, beautiful scenery, and the chance to meet like-minded individuals in the startup community. After the ride, we'll gather back at the cafe for a coffee, lunch if you wish & casual get-together where you can share your startup stories, exchange ideas, and make valuable connections. Who knows, you might find your next business partner or mentor! Important: Safety is important. Please ensure you wear a helmet and follow all the park's cycling rules. Remember, it's all about having fun while staying safe! You are responsible for your own safety, this is not a led ride, being safely competent on a bike is a minimum requirement to join. There are a few hills in Richmond Park, one is relatively steep, but it doesn't last long. I n this workshop hosted by CASS Art Kingston, participants will be introduced to the East Asian Art tradition of Ink wash painting, taught brushwork techniques, and create their own original Ink Painting artwork based on the 'Four Gentlemen' (四君子): Plum, Bamboo, Chrysanthemum, and Orchid. We will be looking at various Japanese, Chinese, and Korean artists' depiction of the Four Gentlemen, and their expressive brushstrokes and compositions as a source of inspiration. Participants will be guided in detail as they explore the 'Four Treasures' : Brushes, Ink, Paper, and Ink stones (文房四寶: 筆、墨、紙、硯) and get the chance to try out different types of brushes, inks and Xuan ('rice paper'). Ink wash painting is a form of art that emerged during the Tang Dynasty in China as a reaction to earlier techniques that placed a heavy emphasis on detail and realism. Techniques and confucian philosophies further developed during the Song and Ming dynasties and spread across East Asia to Japan (墨絵 Sumi-e / 水墨画 Suiboku-ga) and Korea (수묵화 Sumookhwa). A ll materials will be provided during the workshop, including unlimited use of paper. This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in East Asian Art and culture, aged 13+. Please note that the theme changes each month April: Plum May: Bamboo June: Orchid July : Chrysanthemum September: Plum October: Bamboo November: Orchid December: Chrysanthemum The ink used in this workshop is non-toxic but will stain clothing - please wear clothing you do not mind getting dirty, or bring along an apron! In this workshop, participants will learn about Japanese painting and its techniques, and create their own A5 artwork inspired by Iwasaki Tsunemasa's Honzo Zufu (本草図譜), a vast chronicle of botany from 18th and 19th century Japan. Participants will be taught how to use Japanese brushes, ink and Gansai (Japanese Watercolour) paints on Washi paper, and how to mount their artwork onto a wooden panel at the end of the session. The workshop is suitable for all ability levels, ages 12+. All materials are provided. This workshop is hosted by CASS Art Kingston.
