Guest appearances from Romany heritage poets Raine Geoghegan, Louise Doughty and Amanda Garrie will offer insight into the culture and the importance of sharing this before the old ways are forgotten. Readings will be drawn from the KIN anthology (Salmon Press, 2024) and the authors' wider repertoire. There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions for deeper understanding about lifestyle, writing content and process and also to get to know the poets. Limited copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event or, in advance, directly from Salmon Press. The T'Articulation troupe are delighted to host this event in collaboration with Southsea Community Cinema -- which will be screening Roma films, in separate events alongside our offering. The Mozart Project presents the Canadian premiere of David Bowser's A Sea Lion Symphony, a live music experience with film and narrator, featuring the Odin Quartet. A Sea Lion Symphony is a documentary film about the sea lions of Point La Jolla, California. Shot from land, air and underwater, the film captures fascinating scenes revealing instinctive behaviours and playful activities of these intelligent, curious, gregarious and social wild animals. Bulls fight for dominance, pups are born to caring mothers and learn to nurse, young sea lions play in tide pools, adults surf at high tide, sea lions dive underwater exhibiting their agility, strength and speed. This film by David Bowser features his original musical score and poetry by Carol Archibald to tell the story of A Sea Lion Symphony. This sneak preview of A Sea Lion Symphony is a fundraiser event in support of post-production music recording costs needed to finalize the documentary for presentation at film festivals, on television and streaming options. It might sound like a lot, but when you break it down to a daily stair count it’s 56 stairs steps or no more than five flights a day for a little less than 3 years. You don’t have to go that far. You can start by climbing virtually the MIllenium Dome, 21 flights. We will provide you with the references and we will have a snack after it.
