Michigan's premier Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and CCW course, "CONCEALED CARRY BASICS (CPL)," is an essential program for individuals seeking self-defense and protection. In today's uncertain world, local municipalities are facing significant challenges due to limited resources and understaffing. By joining this course, you will become part of a community of over 660,000 responsible gun owners and Michigan CPL holders. This comprehensive program will equip you with the necessary knowledge to obtain a Michigan Concealed Pistol License. Topics covered in this course include understanding the CPL, practicing firearm safety and safe storage, selecting the right ammunition for practice and defense, choosing the appropriate concealed carry firearm, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and controlling encounters. Legal considerations, such as the use of force and the aftermath of self-defense encounters, will also be discussed. Additionally, the course delves into human decision-making processes, developing a winning mindset, Michigan firearm laws, performance shooting fundamentals, defensive accuracy, and concealment gear selections. To participate in the course, each student must bring 50 rounds of ammunition for their handgun, eye and ear protection, pen and paper for note-taking, a handgun (excluding 22lr), and 2 magazines. Students are also required to bring a $25 cash range use fee on the day of the class. The cost of the course is $150, and tickets must be purchased in advance as walk-ons are not permitted. The Focus Series events provide a comprehensive exploration of various handgun shooting skills. Whether you are a novice or an experienced shooter, the Focus: Fundamentals course is designed to enhance your proficiency. Have you completed a CPL class and can hit a 2' by 3' target consistently, but struggle with accuracy when shooting on your own? Are you new to the world of handgun shooting? Or perhaps you are a seasoned shooter looking to refine your skills. This 5-hour course has been tailored just for you. Prepare to delve deep into the Performance Shooting Fundamentals in this engaging and action-packed session. Don't miss out on this opportunity to improve your shooting abilities. Participants of the Focus: Handgun Fundamentals course will need to bring the following items: a minimum of 200 rounds of pistol ammunition, a suitable holster (excluding cross draw, shoulder rigs, collapsible leather or cloth holsters), eye and ear protection (preferably electronic), a reliable and functional pistol (a backup pistol is highly recommended), 2-5 working magazines for double stacked pistols or 4-10 for single stacks, a method to carry magazines on your person, sunscreen, rain gear, bug spray, food, water, a notepad and pen/pencil, a baseball-style hat, a sturdy belt to support your pistol and mag pouches, lube, tools specific to your gear, knee/elbow pads and gloves (optional), an open mind, a folding chair and table (optional), and food, water, and snacks for lunch and the range. The course fee is $150 and tickets must be purchased in advance. Please note that there are no walk-on registrations accepted. Refunds only available in the case of cancellation, and tuition may be transferred to another course up until 3 weeks prior to the registered course. Additionally, students must bring $25 on the day of the class to cover the range fee. Due to limited space, early registration is recommended.
