Introduction to Coiling and Slab Built Pottery is a 15-hour introductory course that caters to both beginners and individuals who have completed our Introduction to Pottery course. This course provides an excellent opportunity for participants to gain valuable hand building experience. Throughout the six consecutive Friday morning sessions, attendees will delve into various coiling and slab building techniques, as well as surface and color applications. These essential skills will serve as a solid foundation for future explorations with clay. Moreover, participants will have the chance to interpret set skills in their own unique style. The course fee includes all necessary clay, as well as glazing and firing for up to six items. If desired, additional items can be glazed and fired for a small fee based on their size. To extend their studio time, individuals can also book for Self-Guided Studio Access on Friday afternoons. Although this is not a taught session, tutor support will be available whenever needed. The course is taught by Ruth Waller, a highly experienced tutor and contemporary textile artist. Ruth is part of the award-winning creative partnership Waller Hewett and has an impressive portfolio of artwork and installations.
