Introduction to Painting with Natural Materials with Peter Stiles | Studio KIND. at The Corn Store
Oct 10, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED

Before the days when you could buy art materials over the counter artists used what was around them when they could. Come along and have a go at using Bideford black straight out of the cliffs, oak gall ink - used in the Renaissance and made with crushed oak apples, clay, flowers, charcoal and moss. This is a great introduction to making your own natural pigments and inks and start to create your own exciting mark-making. Oct 11, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Barnstaple
Join us for an insightful evening of conversation with our exhibiting artist George Rayner, alongside Morwenna May and Georgina MacMillan delving into the heart of rural life through their compelling documentary projects. Rayner’s Back on the Farm offers a black-and-white photographic exploration of the lives of young farmers in North Devon, capturing the essence of their dedication and the challenges they face. In parallel, May and MacMillan's The Farmer’s Wife project provides a powerful narrative on the often-overlooked experiences of women in agriculture, addressing themes of succession, gender inequality, and isolation through interviews and evocative photography. Together, these projects open a window into the realities of the agricultural community, sparking a broader discussion about identity, resilience, and the evolving roles within farming. This evening promises to be a thought-provoking dialogue on the intersection of art and rural life, offering new perspectives on the farming way of life.
