Saturday Drop-In Workshop: 2 Prov 2 Furious with John McInnes | The Old Hairdresser's
Jan 11, 2025 (UTC+0)
Glasgow
Part of our monthly Saturday improv drop-in workshop series at The Old Hairdressers
2 Prov 2 Furious - with John McInnes
Improvisers, over time, regularly move towards performing twoprov (a full improv show with a cast of only 2 people) rather than ensemble team work. Part of this is the logistical simplicities involved in coordinating 2 people but there are also unique and satisfying creative payoffs found within twoprov that other forms simply don't have.
In this workshop we'll work on twoprov, the challenges it poses, what form and structural approaches can help make it easier and consistent. If you've never done twoprov before, sign up and get your first experience of it and meet a new twoprov partner for life! If you have an existing twoprov partner, sign up together and we will work on your duo's thing!
John McInnes has been doing longform improv since 2014 and loves it, particularly The Harold . He's studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and has learned from Carleen MacDermid, Will Hines, Billy Merritt, Julie Brister... and many more. In 2016 he co-founded Bristol's Kitchen Rules Theatre and was a member of every cool improv team in Bristol from 2016-2023. He is now a member of Couch and co-runs Improv Cage Match at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has performed at the Del Close Marathon, Amsterdam Improv Marathon, Hoopla Improv Marathon and the Robin Hood International Improv Festival (not a marathon).
