Rowenna Williams - Willow Weaving Workshop 23/10/24 11.00am - 3.00pm £10 (Includes all materials and tea and coffee) Suitable for beginners Age group - Adults Location: Education Room There is a certain beauty in weaving, the smell of the willow, the feel of the bark, seeing your very own creation grow in front of your eyes. This will be a one day workshop suitable for beginners where you'll have the opportunity to learn how to weave a star, a dragonfly or a bird feeder. Join printmaker Sue Brown on this one-day workshop exploring how to make colourful printswith photographs Paper Lithography with Sue Brown Sunday 27th of October 10.30am-4.30pm £55 Includes all materials, tea, coffee, biscuits. 18+ Join printmaker Sue Brown on this one-day course discovering how to use a simple black-and-white photocopied image to make a print! Sue will take you through the art of using gum arabic and your own choice of imagery to create colourful, layered work using low-tech materials and equipment. You will come away from this workshop with an array of colourful prints and artist books. All materials are provided in this workshop, however participants are required to bring in their own black-and-white photocopies to develop personalised imagery throughout the day. Sue Brown is a professional artist and printmaker living in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Much of her work is inspired by nature and the landscape. Although Sue specialises in Collagraph printmaking she continues to explore new interests and techniques that are going to produce highly creative and deeply textural surfaces “I’m Inspired by process as much as nature, my work springs from the pages of sketchbooks and I develop carefully researched themes, experimenting with collagraph, fabric and gum arabic transfer.” Information Source: Ruthin Craft Centre | eventbrite

Cardboard modelling workshop with Emma-Jayne Holmes (Children 12-15 oed) FREE 1.30pm - 3.30pm Location: Education Room For children attending this event parents / guardians will need to give parental consent if they are leaving their child for the workshop. Parents / guardians who wish to attend with the child / children are welcome to attend (no additional booking required) In this session each participant would build their own mini tower (30cm high) from recycled cardboard boxes. Looking at the whole structure or focussing on a feature they will work with the card to build up the layers to create their own unique interpretation of this local landmark! Emma-Jayne Holmes is a passionate artist with a keen eye for capturing the essence of life and her surroundings. Driven by an insatiable curiosity to understand the world, Emma-Jayne’s drawings explore the interconnectedness of everyday subjects, all bound by a common thread: meliorism—the belief that small acts of love, creativity, kindness, and compassion can make the world a better place. Her still-life studies taught her the art of keen observation, while her landscape work. Cardboard modelling workshop with Emma-Jayne Holmes (Children 8-11 years old) FREE 10.30am-12.30pm Location: Education Room For children attending this event parents / guardians will need to give parental consent if they are leaving their child for the workshop. Parents / guardians who wish to attend with the child / children are welcome to attend (no additional booking required) Using the Ruthin Clock tower as inspiration we will make our own 3D version from cardboard boxes, creating one large piece for display! We will build up the structure together, using the art of stonemasonry. We will then focus on decoration using wax rubbings and a selection of wallpapers.
