AIA/CKC Joint Program with UK College of Design - Marlon Blackwell Lecture Date & Time: Monday, November 4 at 6:30 pm. Location: Speed Museum, 2035 S 3rd St, Louisville, KY 40208 Event is free and open to the public. Marlon Blackwell, FAIA, is the founding partner of Marlon Blackwell Architects (MBA) in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the E. Fay Jones Distinguished Professor at the University of Arkansas. Blackwell is the recipient of the 2020 AIA Gold Medal, the Institute’s highest honor recognizing those whose work has had an enduring impact on the theory and practice of architecture. He is a lifetime member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a 2023 inductee of the American Academy of Arts and Science, a 2019 Resident Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, and a 2014 United States Artists Ford Fellow. Work produced in his professional office has received recognition with significant publication and more than 180 design awards including the 2016 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in Architecture. A monograph of his early work, “An Architecture of the Ozarks: The Works of Marlon Blackwell”, was published in 2005 and a new monograph titled “Radical Practice”, was published in 2022.

It looks and feels like you are on the set of a real game show. The show is 21+. Doors open at 7 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. Seating is first come, first served. Rion Evans is a born game show host who is funny and engaging and will have you laughing out loud. Rion has headlined at the nation’s top comedy clubs, but between comedy dates Rion gives his talents to commercial acting and voice over jobs as principal characters for many respected companies such as Chili's, BroadwayHD, Advanced Auto Parts, and Mars/Wrigley. The Louisville Underground is a speakeasy style venue hidden behind Tilt Pinball in the basement at 640 Main Street (corner of Pine and Main) in downtown Louisville, Colorado. We have a full bar and we offer delicious Shopey's pizza, salads, and house-made sides. Come early, have a bite and a beer, and play some games in our sister bar, Tilt PinBall.

Graduate Admissions at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) is pleased to host this event in Louisville (KY) for prospective graduate students, educators or professionals. We welcome anyone interested in learning about SVA’s graduate programs, how to prepare an application and the Manhattan campus experience! This event can benefit those who know graduate school is definitely in their future, as well as those curious about graduate study at SVA. This is an in-person event where you can meet with Graduate Admissions staff, discuss your interests and pick up some SVA swag! Please plan to arrive by 4:30pm to check-in with our staff, enjoy some SVA videos, ask questions and pick up materials. The presentation will start promptly at 5:00pm; it will include information about our campus, the graduate programs we offer, the application process and how to get in touch with your department(s) of interest after the event. Following the presentation, there will be plenty of time for guests to ask additional questions before the program concludes at 6:30pm. We want to see more Kentucky projects get made, but there is a lack of opportunities for creatives to learn how to really develop a script and refine it like they do in bigger cities via table reads and screenwriting groups. Every event will feature a table read where present actors are assigned parts to read pages from writers, followed by feedback. Once the reads are done, there is open networking.
