Support two amazing local nonprofits with a very special yoga class with horses at Project Comeback in Holliston. Instructor Judy Thapa will lead the outdoor class, set in the pasture home to a dozen horses, rescued by Project Comeback, who will be roaming in the near vicinity. For horse and attendee safety, our yoga practice space will be roped off from the herd. Curious horses may pass by to see the yoga class. If not, following class, you will have a chance to take a guided walk to meet some of the horses. Proceeds from this yoga class will be split between two local nonprofits working to support veterans and first responders: Warrior Within Yoga Project and Equine International. Warrior Within Yoga Project's mission is to equip veterans, service members and first responders with the tools and training to manage stress, increase resilience and promote post-traumatic growth. They offer free specialty yoga classes to the military and first responder community. Equine International is a nonprofit research institute dedicated to conducting scientific research and developing education in equine behavior, well-being and welfare, and equine-human interactions in all areas of domestic and free-living equines. WWYP & Equine International has partnered together to offer programs that integrate yoga with equine therapy for veterans (including at Project Comeback). Their mission is to reeducate rescued horses through a series of experiences with a variety of people. Some of the horses in the herd are more familiar with people while others prefer to be left in the company of other horses. To aid in the interaction between guests and horses, facilitators from Equine International will be present. It is a large pasture and cannot guarantee which or how many horses will show their curiosity to watch the yoga class or be interested in meet and greets afterwards.
