This prestigious academy will be held from April 17-21, 2024, at the renowned Little League World Series Complex. The Umpire Academy offers an exceptional opportunity for volunteers to join our dedicated Little League Instructors in Williamsport. This five-day program, exclusive to individuals aged eighteen and above, will be held at various locations including the Dr. Creighton J. Hale International Grove Dining Hall, Recreation Room (2nd Floor), and the field facilities at International Headquarters. This comprehensive week-long session will cover a wide range of topics, including rules, regulations, and interpretations for both baseball and softball. Participants will also gain expertise in the mechanics of the two-umpire system, along with valuable insights into the philosophy, mental approach, and attitude required for Little League Baseball and Softball. The academy will delve into handling game situations, maintaining control, and exploring three-and four-umpire systems. Enrollment for the Umpire Academy is limited to a maximum of forty participants, ensuring an intimate and focused learning environment. In the event of inclement weather, all field exercises and plate work will be conducted indoors, guaranteeing uninterrupted training sessions. The Umpire Mechanics Clinic, a highly anticipated event for aspiring umpires, is set to take place from September 15-17, 2023, in South Williamsport, PA. This clinic, organized by Little League International, will be held at the prestigious Little League Baseball World Series Complex. In order to provide the best learning experience, the clinic will primarily take place outdoors on the fields. However, in the event of inclement weather, the instruction will seamlessly transition indoors to the state-of-the-art Little League batting cages. Enrollment for the clinic is limited to 40 umpire students, so early registration is highly recommended. The cost of the clinic is $135 per student, which covers three meals on Saturday and two meals on Sunday, as well as lodging on-site in the Creighton J. Hale International Grove. The Grove is the same location where players stay during the World Series each summer, ensuring a truly immersive experience for participants. The clinic will focus on honing skills in both plate and base mechanics, with a particular emphasis on the two-umpire system. All attending students are required to bring their own equipment, including an umpire hat, indicator for balls and strikes, baseball glove, mask, and complete plate gear (if available). Students must be a minimum of eighteen years old to attend this Academy. Enrollment in this Academy will be limited to forty (40) participants. It will be held in the Dr. Creighton J. Hale International Grove Dining Hall, Recreation Room (2nd Floor), and the field facilities at International Headquarters. Should we experience inclement weather, all field exercises and plate work will be conducted indoors. The Little League Umpire Academy is a completely revamped and highly engaging umpire training event that provides a comprehensive, jam-packed, hands-on, and interactive study and application of the Little League Rules, Plate Mechanics, Base Mechanics, and the fundamentals of Working the 2-Umpire System. Members of our National Instructor Staff will lead instruction throughout the academy, using thoughtful, engaging, and interactive instructional strategies to provide a high-quality, highly comprehensive training event that equips and encourages umpires of all ability and experience levels. The National Instructor Team meets regularly to discuss best teaching practices, to remain current on all modern trends in umpiring, and to review and understand the Little League Umpire Development Curriculum so that we can provide an unmatched learning experience at each of our training events, especially each of our Umpire Academies across the program. The cost of the academy is $300.00 per student and covers all instructional materials, three meals per day (Wednesday - Saturday), and one meal (Sunday), and housing in Little League International Dormitories.
