Welcome to the Northern and Rural Community Safety Symposium! Date: August 26th, 2025 Location: Laurentian University - 935 Ramsey Lake Rd, Sudbury, ON (Fraser Building) Welcome to the 1st Biennial Northern and Rural Community Safety Symposium! This one-day tricultural event brings together researchers, practitioners, community stakeholders, and those with lived experience to discuss and exchange knowledge, challenges, experiences, research findings, and perceptions on northern and rural community safety (NRCS). Northern and rural communities have unique safety concerns compared to urban areas, and the geographical and social differences make responses particularly complex. Community consultation has led to the identification of three primary themes: Sex Trafficking, Intimate Partner Violence, and Mental Health and Addiction. This symposium is meant to respond to the intricate nature of NRCS and bring academics and community stakeholders together, which we hope will be the first step in a collective effort to respond to community safety in northern and rural communities. We anticipate the relationships, experiences, and knowledge fostered by the symposium can be leveraged to produce collaborative and community-based innovations and responses. This is your chance to share, learn from, or engage with experiences of community safety! Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for the registration and website to be live momentarily. Car ownership is something many Canadians are fortunate to have but many have never been taught the basics of car care. With The Car Lady, our dealership partners to host an informative and comfortable session for a range of car owners. For those who know a little about cars and those who would consider themselves to know nothing about cars. We will help de-mystify what is under the hood of your car and help you not only take better care of your current car to help assist with resale value, but help you stay prepared for when an event on the side of the road does occur. No need to feel lost when your car makes strange noises or lights pop up on the dashboard. Let us help you feel more empowered moving forward. Plus, enjoy some pizza and drinks while getting a fun and interactive lesson on cars! Don't know if you will get value from this? Here is what our customers have said: May Reid: Just attended the "Know your Car" workshop with Christine. Fun presenter who really knows her stuff! I appreciated learning more about maintenance and safety features of my Toyota. The car cleaning tips sheet has lots of good ideas. It was interesting to see the underside of a car on a hoist. I was also glad to hear about the willingness of the staff at this dealership (now owned by the 401 Group of Companies) to answer questions and go over features of my vehicle at any time. Thanks also for the refreshments Highly recommend this presentation. Joanne Beattie: I attended the "Car Lady Canada" Event and I highly recommend it! Christine knows her stuff and shares lots of tips and tricks! Young or old, everyone should go and check out this event when it is offered again! A nice perk to customers and guests, even if it's not a Toyota. Information Source: The 401 Group of Companies | eventbrite
