Woven Vessels | The Craft House
May 25, 2025 (UTC+1)
Bradford
Local artist & designer, Wendy from Wiggy Creates, invites you to come along to her woven vessel workshop and enjoy a fun and relaxing day learning how to construct strong, colourful and memory provoking vessels.
Wendy developed her fabric pots from her love of travel, exploring various cultures, their colours and textiles. Having lived overseas for 6 years, she had gathered a huge collection of fabrics, each provoking memories of trips and friends she travelled with.
Wendy encourages you to learn how to coil and weave your memories into your pots via the fabrics you bring along to the workshop and maybe share those memories over a cuppa whilst weaving. It could be a memory of a loved one, childhood, special event or even your favourite pair of old ripped jeans you can’t bear to part with.
The binding of your materials with coloured threads will always compliment your fabric choices. You might not have time to finish your individual design in class but you will leave with the know-how to complete it at home and move on to more ambitious and bigger vessels.
The workshop includes rope, thread, scissors, needles and some of Wendy’s fabrics from her travels. We would ask you to bring pieces of fabric and/or items of clothing from home to personalise your pot further.
Skill Level: No previous experience required.
Cost: £80 per person (includes materials and equipment use).

Understanding Neurodivergence in Early Years | St Werburghs Community Centre
Jun 24, 2025 (UTC+1)
Baringhup West
Join Bristol Parent Carers and Catrina Lowri from Neuroteachers for
Understanding Neurodivergence in Early Years.
Neurodivergence is a difference not a deficit.
The term covers a variety of different conditions such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia as well as cognition and learning needs such as Down's Syndrome or Global Developmental Delay.
It can be hard for parents to differentiate between what is an age related matter and what is caused by a neurodivergent need.
In this training session we will look at typical, age related development in babies and children aged 0-5.
We will then outline how to differentiate between stages of play, physical development, communication, sensory needs, emotional development and possible neurodivergent needs.
Book your place to secure your spot.
*
Please note, to attend this event you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council) or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area and you must have a child with Special Educational Needs but they do not need to have a diagnosis.

Beginners Modern Quilting | The Craft House
Jul 13, 2025 (UTC+1)
Bradford
Lucy began quilting in Spring 2020 and fell in love fast! Inspired by modern quilters who are reviving this art for the 21st century with clean lines and bright colour pallets. She also loves learning about the rich history and stories behind quilting as an artform. Although quite new to quilting, Lucy learned to sew very young, studying Textile Design at college and then Stage and Costume Design at university. She picked her sewing machine back up during lockdown, when fabric shops were closed there were only small scraps and old clothes available at home, the perfect place to start a quilt!
Now she buys her fabrics and materials from local suppliers across Yorkshire. Lucy enjoys the waste-free, eco-friendly and thrifty nature of quilting, using every scrap of fabric to make a product that can be treasured for years to come.

Pruning Trained Fruit Trees | Lidget Green Memorial Garden
Aug 18, 2025 (UTC+1)
Bradford
Pruning trained fruit trees
A trained fruit tree is a tree that has been carefully shaped and guided as it grows. This is done by pruning and tying its branches to a support (like a wall, fence, or wires) so it grows in a specific shape—such as flat against a wall or in a fan shape.
Common shapes include
espalier
,
fan
, and
cordon
.
Training your fruit trees is great way to grow productive fruit trees in a small space, so perfect for little gardens or even just a sunny wall in the city.
Trained fruit trees require regular pruning to keep them in the desired form and producing lots of fruit. This course will show you how to prune a fruit tree for best results.
