Featured Events in Lisburn in October, 2024 (June Updated)

Join us on the evening of the 29th October for a very special Halloween experience at Maven. We’ll be heading under the Lisburn Road, right into the former Bank of Ireland vault for a selection of spooky stories inspired by the witches of Island Magee. The evening will be led by friend of Maven, David Fullerton. David was a science teacher and Head of Biology until his retirement and was also involved in music and drama both in and out of school. He is an active member of the South Bank Playhouse where he acts and directs. He loves ghost and horror stories of all sorts, being particularly attracted to Edgar Allan Poe and M. R James. For this evening, David will include some of his own tales to bristle your hair and curdle your blood! May be too scary for under 12s! Event will last approximately 30(ish) minutes and refreshments will be provided. We can’t wait for you to join us at what promises to be a very special event. The Triathlon Ireland Social Hub at Lisburn Leisureplex offers a supportive environment for triathletes to enhance their skills and connect with like-minded individuals. This program, held on the second Wednesday of each month, focuses on fundamental training in cycling and swimming disciplines. Coached by Ciaran McGarrity, participants can expect tailored sessions suitable for all ability levels. The upcoming sessions in August, September, October, and November will take place at Lisburn Leisureplex from 7pm to 9pm. Participants must be Triathlon Ireland members aged 18 and above holding a Club Training or Full Membership. Her in-person Paint & Grow children's sessions are specially tailored to help children who suffer from low self-esteem and social anxieties. Triathlon Ireland are delighted to bring their young people’s camp Lagan Valley Leisureplex for the first time this half- term break. Activities will include running skills, bike drills, swimming, and a mini triathlon to finish the fun-filled 2 days. This camp is open to young people of all abilities. Dates: 31st October and 1st November 2024 Times: 10am to 1pm Ages: 8 to 10 year olds and 11 to 14 year olds Cost: £10 for Triathlon Ireland members (£20 for non- TI members) Location: Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn Equipment Needed: Bike, Helmet, Running Attire, Swimming Togs, Goggles, Swim Hat, Suncream, Rain Coat, Small Snack, Water. **Please note that participants must be able to swim a minimum of 50m to participate*** If cost or equipment are a barrier to taking part in this camp, please contact us directly so we can support attendance.
