These questions are central to the films JAVA and ACEH (both 2024). The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers Mirwan Andan, Iswanto Hartono and Hans van Houwelingen. The films are not so much about historical facts as about the way histories are told. They show how people’s memories are shared, commemorated and passed on to new generations. Wat kun je doen met de lokale gewassen olifantsgras, wilg, wilde gagel en kastanje? Vier teams van young professionals zijn met de Circular Challenge het BlueCity Lab ingedoken om circulaire en schaalbare oplossingen te bedenken voor deze groene bodem- en waterverbeteraars. Tijdens de finale op 11 november presenteren zij hun resultaten, inclusief uitgewerkte business cases. Hoe kunnen we lokale boeren stimuleren om meer regeneratieve gewassen te verbouwen die een positieve impact hebben op de bodem en de biodiversiteit? Juist, door ze meer interessante toepassingen en business cases voor deze lokale gewassen aan te bieden! In september 2024 hebben we daarom een nieuwe groep van young professionals uitgedaagd om in zes weken tijd nieuwe, circulaire toepassingen te ontwikkelen voor de lokale vezels en gewassen: olifantsgras, wilg, wilde gagel en kastanje. Tijdens de feestelijke finale van de Circular Challenge presenteren zij hun resultaten en prototypes aan een deskundige jury, die dit jaar zelfs twee winnaars zal kiezen. Zeven kunstenaars en architecten presenteren hun Vedute manuscripten. Vedute manuscripten zijn werken waarbij makers binnen een kader van 44 x 32 x 7 cm hun visie op ruimte tonen. De groep makers van diverse disciplines gaat in op hun werkproces en waarom ze de uitdaging van de Vedute zijn aangegaan. De makers van de Vedutes van dit jaar zijn kunstenaar Merijn Bolink met zijn augmented creativity, het kunstduo Gijs Frieling en Job Wouters ‘FreelingWaters’ dat bekendstaat om hun ornamenteel modernisme.
