Learn to Ride/Complete Beginner Kids October Sessions: Tue 15th Oct, 2pm | West Lothian Cycle Circuit

The sessions are for Primary School age children who are complete beginners who don't know how to ride a bike. We will provide support and a safe space to improve and learn whatever point they are at in their cycling journey. Each session will involve a warm up and fun games while learning to ride or build confidence in their cycling skills in a fenced, traffic free environment. The sessions are free and will be run by qualified cycling coaches. Sign up for one or several sessions - whatever suits, but please cancel your slot if unable to attend. We want to make sure as many children as possible can benefit from these sessions. Bring a water bottle, bike, helmet and gloves. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and remove any stabilizers before the session if possible. Thank you! These taster sessions are for anyone who would like to try out skating. All ages welcome! Skates and protective equipment will be provided, but if you have your own please bring them along! The sessions are being delivered in partnership with Falkirk Wheelers. Each session is free and will be run by qualified coaches in a fenced, traffic free environment. Taking place on the second day of Scottish Women & Girls In Sport Week, Scottish Cycling are excited to be joined by double Paralympic champion Jenny Holl, fresh from her success in Paris, to launch Scottish Cycling's new Women & Girls strategy. Our new strategy will heighten our focus on increasing the number of fun, inclusive and exciting opportunities for women & girls to both participate and progress within our sport. Female participation in cycling is on the up, but we’re not happy with the current rate of progress, and so will use this strategy to make a real step change. During the launch event we'll host a Q&A session with Jenny to hear about her success at the Paralympics in Paris and her journey through the sport. The friendly bike mechanics from 1st Step Bikes will be at the LCDT Community Hub on Friday 25th October from 2-4pm. They will carry out a basic safety check of your bike and give you advice if your bike requires any repairs. Please register your details before dropping off your bike. Five spaces available. Bikes can be dropped off from 2pm. Last bikes accepted at 3.30pm. Collection by 4pm.
