Oct 12, 2024 (UTC-7)ENDED
Edmonton
An early show featuring live tape loops, sampling, electronics and visuals. Edmonton’s Mark Templeton and Vancouver’s Daniel Majer will both be celebrating the release of their new albums. Mark Templeton: Two Verses (Faitiche) For his debut on Faitiche, he browsed his old hard drives and invited Andrew Pekler to listen through and co-produce a selection of Mark’s unreleased works. The compositions act as a series of snapshots: a look back at a decade of archived sounds, re-envisioned and re-imaged for Faitiche. The album contains nine tracks that follow an AB song structure. Each piece begins with verse A, transitions into verse B, and then ends. Daniel Majer: Time for No Memory (Vaagner) An exercise in contemporary sound collage, Daniel Majer’s new album comprises a direct and liberated examination of fragments from the past and their valence for the shared present moment. A field of inquiry into nostalgia and its strange and, at times, pervasive place in contemporary culture. doors 6:30pm show 7:00pm $15 adv $20 door
