CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED! You’ve recently purchased a handgun and it is locked up and you’re not sure about it? This class is for you. It is for the person with no or limited handgun experience in a defensive setting. Join us and start the foundation of defensive shooting and self-protection in a safe and positive environment! Join NRA Advanced Instructor, Jim Benoit for a comprehensive introductory class on defensive shooting. The curriculum is designed for women and men that have no experience to limited experience shooting their firearm. We will teach you safe gun handling skills. We will review your grip, stance, and sight picture to ensure all students are on track. You will shoot multiple targets while practicing muzzle discipline, trigger control and reset. We will introduce movement while shooting. Topics include: Use of Force, Defensive Mindset, Grip, Stance, Draw, and Shot Placement. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible for the Florida Out of State Carry Permit. This firearms course provides the student with basic skills and the mindset required to confidently operate a handgun in a violent situation. Defensive Carry I is geared toward the student with some experience operating a handgun; both open and concealed carry from outside the waistband. The class starts with a lively classroom session followed by active drills on the range. We will shoot using proper shot placement on the threat, introduce fighting magazine reloads and tactical reloads. We will shoot multiple targets practicing muzzle discipline and trigger reset. A general rule of thumb: if it does not have a serial number, do not bring it. These guns have proven to be unreliable in class. If you bring one to class and do not have a backup, or there is not a rental gun available, you will need to leave the class. No refund is given. Thank you for your cooperation.
