Keeping the Stories Alive | The Tolbooth
Sep 4, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Stirling
Immerse yourself in Stirling's pre & post-punk period with band members, managers, authors & music aficionados featured in our exhibition. Join us for an unmissable panel event featuring several individuals who have contributed to the current exhibition showing in the Tolbooth Gallery. The ‘Keeping the Stories Alive’ exhibition consists of various displays of photographs, flyers, zines, record shop and other artifacts focussing on Stirling and Clackmannanshire, and its under-recognised place within the wider musical zeitgeist emanating from the larger cities of Scotland. On the panel will be: David Meldrum Lowe on his book of the same name which focusses on bands and venues from the 50s through to the 80s; Billy McChord, musician and band member of 22 Beaches, on the Stirling punk and post punk scenes; Mairi Ross Bauchop, band member of The Fakes; Les Cook, sometime member of Pop Wallpaper; Ewen Duncan, proprietor of Europa Music on record shops in Stirlingshire; and Ken McCluskey, musician and co-curator of the Harry Papadopoulos collection. It is anticipated that other afficianados of the pre-punk and post period will attend the event and contribute from the floor. We are delighted to be generously hosted by the Tolbooth for this event.
