Experience the captivating performance of "Into the Melting Pot: songs & stories of Jewish, Christian & Muslim women" at Victoria Hall in Grange-over-Sands. This concertplay, written by the acclaimed Clare Norburn and directed by the BAFTA-nominated Nicholas Renton, is a one-of-a-kind production where music and theatre intertwine. Set in Spain, 1492, the story revolves around a Jewish woman who is about to embark on a journey to an uncertain future, forced to leave her home behind. As she lights the lamps on her final night in Seville, she tunes into the voices of a community of women from different religious backgrounds across the Spanish peninsula. Their stories of integration, love, cultural heritage, and racial intolerance resonate with the struggles faced by people affected by politics and war today. The powerful narrative is accompanied by the enchanting melodies of plaintive Sephardic songs and lively medieval music performed live by The Telling, creating a truly immersive experience. Don't miss the opportunity to be transported back to 15th-century Seville! The event will take place on February 3, 2024, and tickets range from £6.13 to £22.38. "Into the Melting Pot" is supported by Arts Council England and Shoresh Charitable Trust.
