This feminist political mystery unfolds in Istanbul during the 1995 elections, following two financially strapped students who stumble upon a mysterious death during a scuba diving trip. Delving deeper into the case, they find themselves ensnared in a web of political corruption, religious influence, and potential foul play. Drawing from her own experiences in Istanbul, Samanci shares a compelling narrative that sheds light on the challenges faced by young women in a male-dominated society. Evil Eyes Sea offers a glimpse into a country where rigid political ideologies constrict personal freedoms, painting a vivid yet sobering portrait of a nation torn between beauty and brutality.
