Dates: Saturday 10 August 2024Wednesday 4 September 2024Start Time: 9.45 am – 12.30 pm Parking: Free Meet Point: outside the Marquee at Spring Lakes Swim Coach Presentation: 10 am start Swimming: 11.30 am start *You must be able to swim to join this activity.* Join us at Spring Lakes to try Open Water Swimming in beautiful surroundings. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn about and try open water swimming in the company of other deaf women. We will have a presentation from a qualified Swim Coach in the marquee to start the morning followed by a relaxed group swimming session in Lake 1. The swimming will end at 12.30 pm but there will also be chance for you to stay on afterwards to buy yourself a drink and lunch/snacks in one of the café areas if you would like to. BSL interpreter and Speech-to Text Captioners available on the day. Spring Lakes will provide us with a tow float to wear on the day and a free swim cap to take home. Please bring your own towels, suncream, suitable shoes and a swimming costume - you can hire a wetsuit from Spring Lakes if you prefer to do this. Additional information from Spring Lakes: You must be able to swim to join this activity.Wetsuits are available to hire at £4 but are not mandatory.Lockers are available, please bring your own padlock or buy one from reception for £3.There are changing rooms, toilets and showers onsite.A waiver must be completed before your first swim. Rookie Runners, part of the Buxton Movers programme, is a 12 week programme, for anyone looking to start their running journey What is Rookie Runners?Derbyshire Mind’s Rookie Runners, part of the Buxton Movers is a 12 week beginners running programme. Our group will be led by a qualified Run Leader and we will always have 2 Derbyshire Mind wellbeing volunteers at the sessions running with you who are great listeners and ready to chat with you. The 12 week programme will ease you into running gently and give you the confidence to run a 5k distance by the end of the sessions. The group are friendly and supportive and are there to help you achieve your goal and answer any questions you may have. After the 12 week programme, you can carry on running for a further 12 weeks with our Derbyshire Mind volunteers or choose to fly the nest into the world of running and we can help support you find a local running group near you. All Graduates of the 12 week beginner course will receive a complimentary ticket for the up-coming Mental Elf Fun Run in November. Come and meet likeminded others and DRAW together! Bring a curious and playful attitude, jump in and have a go! Draw Derby welcomes complete beginners and those experienced in drawing. Draw Derby is: ✏️ A love letter to Derby from it's citizens (and beyond) ✏️ Simple - same place, same time, the last Saturday of the month throughout the year ✏️ Free - the monthly gatherings will always be free ✏️ Outside - being visible, a provocation in the city ✏️ Connecting with place - through regular and repeated engagement ✏️ Drawing together - an opportunity to find drawing kin ✏️ Building community - who hears the call? ✏️Welcoming - anyone who wants to draw ✏️ Gentle accountability - to show up and draw ✏️ Self-directed - for participants to use the time in whatever way suits them, under the umbrella of Draw Derby How does it work? We meet by The Waterfall in the Market Place at 10.30am on the last Saturday of the month throughout 2024. We move to another location after an hour for a different viewpoint in the city.
