In this workshop, you will be encouraged to try different floor movements. You will be guided through a variety of fun movement patterns and skills - varying difficulty and plenty of progressions will allow you to learn at your own pace while being able to find joy in this movement experience. The aim of this workshop is to equip you with the basic and intermediate elements of floor locomotions, floor work, and soft acrobatics (Think accessible, yet challenging funky adultobatics!). Through this workshop, you will gain practical tools to build your own enjoyable physical practice that's playful, grounding, and meditative. Workshop content: Floor locomotions - this section is focused on moving on all fours in funky and creative ways. We'll explore crab walks, bear crawls, and many other movement patterns. Floorwork - introduction to several gentle rolling techniques and further exploration of modified floor locomotions that allow for more creativity and freedom of movement. Soft acrobatics - this is my favourite section! I will introduce you to the world of low-impact soft acrobatics like cartwheels, more rolling, and how to break down more complex movement patterns in a safe and accessible way. Even though this part might sound a bit scary, especially for someone without an acrobatic background, all participants will be able to work at their own pace and fitness level while learning new skills. Each section will consist of three parts: isolation, integration, and improvisation. This means that we'll start by learning individual moves, then start working on building movement flows and sequences, and finally, we'll learn how to improvise with those skills working towards grounding flow states. Everyone will be encouraged and supported to gently step outside their comfort zones to learn new skills and sequences. Above all, the aim is to have a lot of fun, learn to move in unique ways, and get creative with our bodies. Note: Limited spots available, so secure your place now! If you've ever been inspired by Eric Ravilious' paintings, or by the moody misty hills of the Sussex Downs, this is a workshop for you. Hosted in a cosy converted barn in Cuckmerehaven (one of the locations of Ravilious's paintings), spend a day with likeminded people, learning the basics of watercolour & landscape painting inspired by Ravilious's style of painting. What we'll be doing: We’ll be going over basic watercolour skillssuch as paint consistency, brush strokes, colour mixing, layering and more. We'll learn specific skills that Ravilious uses in his paintings to create depth & mood. We will be working from books & reference images, as well as learning how to create our own compositions. Low pressure: This class is a mixture of learning something new and more in depth as well as just having a lovely day. It’s a very low pressure and friendly class- while learning techniques - the most important thing is to just experiment and see what happens, and enjoy doing something arty surrounded by nature! What you'll come away with: There are 8 space in this class, meaning there's always enugh time for me to give individual advice. Everyone has a different style & way of working and the aim is not to be able to create an exact copy of his paintings. By the end of the class I aim to have taught you many different techniques, that you can take or leave based on your personal preference, and use them in your own unique way. Who it's for: Beginners and anyone keen on learning to paint in watercolour! Many people who come to my classes haven't painted since school - if you are one of those people you're very welcome. My background is in illustration which I studied in Bristol from 2016 - 2019. I have previously worked in a bit of editorial illustration under the name 'Zara Wilkins' and also help to organise Brighton Illustration Fair. The thing I love most about watercolours is that it is so versatile and beautiful. There are so many different ways that it can be used, so many effects that you can create with different levels of water, pigment, paper weights and brushes. There doesn't really seem to be an end to what you can do with it. Teaching this year has been such an amazing introduction for me into the breadth of watercolour and I'm really excited to just paint with you and see where 2024 takes us!
