Intuition Maps - Beccy Mccray | Irchester Country Park
Sep 15, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Par
Join us for the launch of Intuition Maps, Beccy Mccray's new co-created artwork at Irchester Country Park. Migration is a solution not a problem Intuition Maps is a co-created artwork which invites participants and visitors to reflect on animal instincts - their own and that of the more-than-human world - in the context of climate change adaptation. It aims to generate a sense of solidarity and interconnectedness with nature and each other. A new and unexpected woodland walking route has been developed by feeding maps created by local participants and local wildlife data, through an bespoke AI algorithm. The resulting route markers, from totemic to tiny, will help the general public to use their own intuition to navigate the route, whilst providing sanctuary for local migratory butterfly species overwintering in the UK due to the changing climate. Intuition Maps will launch with a walk led by Beccy offering further insight into the work. Intuition Maps is funded by Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Creative Climate Action Fund. Please note: Intuition Maps features an unconventional route through the woods at Irchester Country Park. Please dress appropriately for the weather and the conditions under foot. Please contact us if you have any additional access needs.

EASTERN PROMISES presents HONG KONG TRILOGY | Paradise Theatre
Sep 22, 2024 (UTC-5)ENDED
Par
EASTERNPROMISESis dedicated to showcasing the best of East Asian cinemas, from beloved classics to forgotten gems. Christopher Doyle celebrates Hong Kong and its people with Hong Kong Trilogy: Preschooled Preoccupied Preposterous, a vibrant work divided into three parts that focuses on the city's residents in their childhood, youth, and old age. The film depicts a Hong Kong that has never before been represented on film; Doyle shows the slow side of the city, the one inhabited by people who value ideals over finances. Of particular note is his inclusion of 2014's Umbrella Movement, which blocked traffic, arrested the city's frenzied pace, and forced people to stop and ponder the real meaning of freedom. The questions raised by the Umbrella Movement — questions about how we can live together and what a society should be — permeate all three sections of this collaboratively made triptych. Hong Kong Trilogy is an artwork in sync with the pulse of the city, truly a film of the people, by the people, for the people. (Courtesy of Grasshopper Film.) Sunday, September 22nd, 4:00 PM/ 3:30 PM Doors General Admission $15.00 | Student/Senior (with valid ID) $12.50 + HST/eventbrite fees Door tickets are available for purchase on the day of screening.
