Mixed Media Collage: Torn Paper Technique - IN-PERSON CLASS | The Edney

Chattanooga
Arts Craft
In this class, you’ll learn to tear paper to create a beautiful and fun collage. This technique can be used in mixed media art, junk journaling and more. Melissa's teaching style is easy-going in all CAPS. And! If you're worried you need to be an artist to join this class, sweep that worry right out the door. All you need is the desire to get out of the house and learn something new. Supply Note: Each participant is asked to bring a cereal box -- all other supplies are provided. *With 12:30 being lunch for many humans, feel free to bring food to keep your belly happy. About the teacher: Melissa Astin has lived in Chattanooga for 10+ years -- and is shocked by how quickly a decade has passed. Though Melissa should claim her kids first, she is first and foremost enamored with her felines, Puma Britches and Franklin. Those felines don't roll their eyes at her, and they return her texts. That said, her kids are great too, and she claims them most of the time. Mixed media collage has been her art form for nearly 25 years, and when she's not working her day job at ArtsBuild or dressing up cats in bowties, you can find her with a plethora of torn paper around her. But if you'd like to start with some basics check out my other class: Watercolor 101: The Basics Supplies: All supplies included. Participants will be using shared watercolor supplies. Everyone will walk away with a finished piece at the end of the class. If you have your own preferred watercolor supplies and would like to use them, please feel free to bring them along. About the instructor: Lindsey Prince is a self-taught artist who likes to explore things in new and unconventional ways. She is also a small business owner and operator. Following the rules has never been her favorite way to do things, and her artwork is no different. Her love for drawing and painting began with a high school art class, where she was introduced to the purpose and exhilaration of creation and self-expression through art. She has since worked for years developing her own style. She resides in North Georgia, just over the state line from Chattanooga, TN with her husband and two boys. While Lindsey works mostly in watercolor and some sculpture/3-D art she remains an avid craft enthusiast of all kinds.
