Full day MTB skills class - ride way better! | Valmont Bike Park

Boulder
Welcome Friends! My name is Lee McCormack. I've dedicated my professional life to helping riders have more fun on their bikes. I look forward to spending an informative, fun and inspiring day with you. There will be shred. Quick factsClasses run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a BYOL lunch break.Class is limited to 6 riders.Cost per class is $445.Your class fee includes a free year at the Lee Likes Bikes MTB School (worth $199).We’re gonna have such fun!Not sure about all of this? Schedule a 15-minute call with me here.About me and what I doI have been a mountain biker for 36 years. I've been a professional mountain bike writer, teacher and speaker for 22 years. This is what I do. I love it, and I am very good at it. When I raced downhill in the early 2000s I earned a national championship and an 8th at masters worlds. In May 2024 I took my new titanum shoulders and steel prototype trail bike back to masters DH worlds and finished 9th place. It was epic! While I'm a pretty good bike rider, my real gifts are communication and instruction: 11 books about mountain biking so far.Thousands of articles about mountain biking.Millions of video views (check out my YouTube channel, Keeper of the Shred and Joy of Bike - older episodes with me).Defined MTB technique in 2005 with the book Mastering Mountain Bike Skills, now in its 3rd edition.Redefining MTB technique now with in-person instruction and the Lee Likes Bikes MTB School.Godfather of the pump track movement. The book Welcome to Pump Track Nation has guided thousands of track builds worldwide.Inventor of the RideLogic dynamic mountain bike fit system (see the book Dialed).Inventor of the RipRow training tool.Trained 2,000 volunteer youth coaches as the head trainer for the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), New England Youth Cycling (NEYC), the Colorado High School Cycling League.Taught more than 11,000 riders of all levels and styles — and sent zero (zero!) to the hospital. Safety is huge! Most students say I'm the best teacher they've ever had, in any subject. I am a unique mix of analytical, athletic, emotionally intelligent, silly, sensitive and tough. I'll help you reach your riding goals — whatever you want and are ready for. 11,000 happy riders can't be wrong! I love working with people. It's my purpose and the way I serve humanity. I freaking love these classes. In this one day you will revolutionize how you perceive mountain biking, yourself as a mountain biker, and yourself as an athlete. I look forward to riding with you, - Lee McCormack (the Lee in Lee Likes Bikes) Who is this class for? This class is for everyone who wants to ride better. It doesn't matter how fit or experienced you are. I'll help you enjoy green trails, flow on blue trails and slay black trails. If your coach is YouTube or a typical mountain bike skills coach, what I say will shock you in its simplicity and truth. My teaching methods are unique and effective. They have been vetted by physicists, engineers, physicians, physical therapists, psychologists and thousands of riders. I'm gonna reveal the missing pieces that make you finally understand how you and your bike are designed to work together. This is not about media hype or equipment trends or flashy tricks. I teach you the underlying truths about not only your bike, but your body and mind. I give you the path to mastery which you will follow for the rest of your riding life. If you're a beginner I'll guide you past all the trial and error, injuries, and bad habits. If you're an expert or a pro I will help you clean up your bad habits and show you a level of riding you've only dreamed of. I've coached racers who have gone on to win titles in cross country, downhilll, enduro and cyclocross. More importantly, they're riding smarter and safer. DetailsThe price for this day is $445. Most students say this is the best money they ever spent on mountain biking. If you have a crew of friends or family, buy multiple spots and make it a special day. Many people take this class more than once — the second session is better than the first because your system is more ready. Your class fee includes a free year at the Lee Likes Bikes MTB School (worth $199). This site has everything you need for bike selection, bike fit, riding skills, physical training and mental training. Drinks and snacks are included. Bring your own lunch per your dietary requirements. Grand Unified Theory of Shred Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler. - Albert Einstein In my 22 years as a mountain bike writer/teacher, which was preceded by a successful career as an information designer (my team and I won a Pulitzer in 1998), I have been refining my teaching methods until they are as simple as possible, but not simpler. At this point, I only teach two physical skills: 1. Pumping. I show you how to see all terrain as waves, and I teach you how to dynamically engage with trail shapes. Once you understand how to pump bumps of all kinds, it's easy to feel that pumping, hopping and jumping are the same movement. Cornering is that movement sideways. Technical climbing is that movement while pedaling. It's really that simple! 2 . Pedaling. Make the most power with the least effort. Most people gain 20-30 percent power just from technique improvement. Yeah! That's worth $445 right there. The simplicity of my physical approach gives us time to work on the most important aspect of your riding: your emotions and mindset. Helping you ride and live better is my purpose. I take it very seriously — but we have so much fun! What you will learnWe will explore whatever you want and are ready for, including: Bike fit - I'll show you how to optimize your bike for great riding and advise you on the fit of your next bike.Pedaling - I'll show you how to improve your power and reduce your effort, guaranteed.Pumping - Aka row/anti-row. This forms the foundation of all technical skills.Braking - And generating tractionCornering - Generating both traction and propulsionHopping - Exactly like pumping, without help from a bumpJumping - Exactly like pumping, without the top of the bumpTechnical climbing - Pumping while pedalingReading trails, making smart decisions, ripping and achieving Flow.Positive, fun mindset - Have real, actual fun that carries into the rest of your life. Not sure about all of this? Schedule a 15-minute call with me here. 5-Star Google ReviewsMark Richards: Lee is an incredible mtb coach and instructor. He is a fantastic teacher of all the mechanics, form and line choices that will make you safer and faster. However the best part is his approach to the inner game of riding - he is a master at the art of helping you safely overcome fear to quiet your mind and experience new levels of flow and joy on the bike. John Carr: Lee and his teaching methods are the only resources I will recommend to friends (new or experienced riders). I've followed Lee's writing for a long time, have worked with Lee using the RipRow, and recently did a full-day class with Lee. The instruction itself was excellent, but his ability to adapt his delivery or coaching cues to what I needed from moment to moment was truly impressive. Within a few runs on a pump track, he was able to diagnose a root-cause and correct something that I've been trying to figure out on my own for years. His coaching and coaching methods have drastically improved my safety, speed, and control on trail. Skylar Cook: Lee is a damn magician. A 3-day workshop completely transformed my riding, my perspective on biking, and gave me the tools to self-diagnose and progress for years to come! ... Minh Huynh: Lee is a highly-effective teacher who will transform your riding, no matter if you're a beginner or a pro. And if you're up for it, he'll also elevate your entire outlook in life! To see more 5-star Google Reviews, go to Google and search for Lee Likes Bikes . Here's ... Lee: What's it like to work with Lee?I am not like any other coach or teacher. I flip freely between analytical and soulful, gentle and insistent, empowering and powerful. These videos will give you a feel for my teaching style.
