You’ll be guided step-by-step through the process of making your own needlebook, a charming and functional sewing accessory that will keep your needles organized and easily accessible. Key Techniques to make a hand-stitched needlebook Simple Hand Embroidery Stitches: Perfect for beginners, we'll utilise the Japanese art of Boro, using running stitch. You'll learn a variety of easy embroidery stitches, variations of chain stitch (detached chain, lazy daisy), and French knots. These stitches will be used to embellish your needlebook, adding a personal and decorative touch.Upcycling Fabric Scraps: Do you have leftover fabric scraps from past projects? This workshop is a great way to give them a new life! You'll use these scraps to create the cover of your needlebook, resulting in a unique, eco-friendly creation. If you don't have any fabric scraps of your own, then I have plenty you can use.Felted Wool Sweater Pages: The pages of your needlebook, designed to hold your needles safely, will be made from felted wool sweaters. Not only does this add a lovely texture, but it's also an excellent way to upcycle old sweaters that might otherwise go to waste.About your tutor Jen, founder of Artisan Stitch, has over 45 years of sewing experience and 30 years in teaching and mentoring. Originally working in Finance, she pursued her passion for textiles, earning a degree in Textile Design and working in luxury knitwear manufacturing. Her designs have been sold in UK boutiques and even by Valentino. A skilled embroiderer and quilter, Jen is passionate about all aspects of textile arts, from dressmaking to mixed-media techniques.
