The Ascenders Team Singapore gathers every Saturday for their weekly cycling event, known as the Ascenders Team Saturday Ride. The event starts bright and early with a pre-7am meet-up at State of Affairs, a café located at 183 Upper Thomson Road #01-02, Singapore. Participants have the option to enjoy a cup of coffee or a bagel before the ride begins. At 7am sharp, the team rolls out and embarks on their usual route around Singapore.
The route includes various segments such as Upper Thomson Road, Nee Soon Road (which features hilly terrain), Mandai Road, Upper Woodlands Road, Choa Chu Kang, Bricklands Road, Tengah, Jalan Bahar, Jalan Boon Lay, and Penjuru Road viaduct to Pandan Reservoir Esso station. These segments are where the riders go faster and harder. After conquering the route, the team regroups for a post-ride breakfast and social time from 9:15am to 9:30am. The event officially concludes at 10:15am to 10:30am, allowing participants the freedom to continue their day at their own pace.
The Ascenders Team Saturday Ride maintains a serious and official tone, emphasizing the importance of safety and respect for fellow riders. Participants are required to wear a helmet and bring a puncture repair kit, pump, money, food, and water. It is vital to adhere to all traffic rules and light signals to ensure a safe ride. The pace of the ride varies, with rolling flats ranging from 32kph to 40kph and climbs between 3.5w/kg to 5.0w/kg. The event is free to attend and provides an excellent opportunity for cyclists in Singapore to come together and enjoy a challenging ride.
