Experience the 5k and 10k Beer Run at Excelsior Brewing Company as part of the 2024 MN Brewery Running Series. Taking place on October 20 in Excelsior, MN, participants can choose between a 5k or 10k course and enjoy a local beer at the finish line. The untimed fun-run welcomes all levels of walkers, runners, and joggers on an open course showcasing the scenic neighborhood. Each participant will receive a craft brew from Excelsior Brewing Co, along with a collector’s pint glass or seasonal swag item from the Brewery Running Series. Additionally, there will be opportunities to win door prizes and enjoy event festivities like live music and games. A portion of the proceeds from the event will support local nonprofits, continuing the Series' mission to give back to the community. This race commemorates Ron Daws, 1968 Olympic marathoner and one of the original 7 founders of Run Minnesota. Daws, a ’60’s/’70’s Minnesota running icon, trained over this same course. The race was renamed as a memorial to Daws in 1993. The course runs over hilly terrain to the south and west of Hopkins. The race, begun in 1979, and now in its fourth decade, has proved to be a stiff challenge at a middle distance for those training for Boston or other spring marathons or who are otherwise looking for a testing workout.
