THIS COURSE IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS OF VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS This 1/2 day course (10.00 am- 2.30pm) based at Barnstaple Library (2A), is recommended and recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to: 1. Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency 2. Demonstrate how to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure 3. Demonstrate how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation promptly and effectively 4. Use an AED The course duration is 4 hours (plus 30 min break) and participants will recieve a certificate and manual as part of the course. Cost: £25pp (ex. Eventbrite fees) for VSCE paid staff. Fully funded places available for volunteers. This course is being subsidised for voluntary and community groups by NDVS, in conjunction with The Norman Family Trust, to support the voluntary sector in North Devon. Climate Change Theatre Action is a global festival that showcases thought-provoking short plays centered around the climate crisis, synchronizing with the United Nations COP meetings. Commissioned biennially, these plays are crafted by 50 esteemed playwrights representing diverse cultures, continents, and Indigenous nations. Each playwright pens a five-minute play that explores a particular aspect of the climate crisis based on a prompt. This exclusive workshop is designed for those who have always yearned to delve into the world of oil painting but have been unsure of where to start. Amy Jobes, a highly skilled and self-taught landscape artist based in the serene surroundings of North Devon, will expertly guide participants through the process of creating a stunning landscape oil painting. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to explore a range of traditional techniques and methods, allowing you to unleash your creativity and let go of any apprehension or self-doubt. Throughout the workshop, Amy will cover various aspects, including composition ideas, sketching and grounding, creating depth with tone, and working with both muted and saturated colors. Participants will also learn about impasto mark making, a technique that adds texture and dimension to your artwork. To ensure a successful workshop experience, please bring the following materials: a canvas or canvas board sized 16 x 12 inches, art paper for oil painting (size A3), a tear-off palette, Liquin, low-odor white spirit, an empty jam jar with a lid, an old rag for paint wiping, a palette knife or old credit card, 2 large brushes (DIY store purchase is acceptable), a fan brush, and a selection of hogs hair brushes for oil painting. In terms of oil paints, please bring Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Phthalo Blue, Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Red, Buff Titanium, Paynes Grey, Alkyd Titanium White, and any other colors that inspire you. The workshop will take place at the newly established Studio KIND, located in Barnstaple's Pannier Market Corn Store. This venue provides disabled access and toilets for convenience. Held at the newly renovated venue, The Corn Store, which is conveniently located at Barnstaple's Pannier Market, this event offers a tranquil and accessible space for creative exploration. Participants will have the chance to draw and experiment with various poses offered by our professional life models, who will showcase a range of quick poses and a final long pose.
