The 25th Tallahassee Urban Gorilla is a remarkable celebration of the extensive network of mountain bike trails in the beautiful city of Tallahassee. This extraordinary event, marking its 25th year, is a joyous in-town gathering that showcases the city's vast trail system. Riders can participate in the Urban Gorilla for free, but they are required to complete a waiver. To commemorate the anniversary, riders who generously donate $25.00 will receive a special edition anniversary T-Shirt. It is important to note that riders who donate before January 20th will be guaranteed a shirt in their preferred size. Donations made after this date will still receive a shirt, although specific sizes cannot be guaranteed. The captivating graphics for this event have been meticulously hand-drawn by the talented artist and avid mountain biker, Bill Oterson. The funds raised through donations will be utilized to support trail projects and maintenance, as well as to assist the local youth NICA team known as the Tallahassee Thunder. The Urban Gorilla commences at the iconic City Hall and takes riders through a breathtaking journey, passing by various mesmerizing locations such as Cascades Park, Myers Park, Indianhead Acres, and many more. The classic route covers an impressive 50+ miles! It is crucial to ride responsibly and within one's abilities. The Urban Gorilla is an extraordinary event that allows participants to tailor their experience to their liking. This thrilling adventure, reminiscent of a "choose your own adventure" story, offers multiple groups and speeds for riders to join. Due to the historically high turnout, riders often form smaller groups based on similar speeds and abilities. Safety is paramount during this event, and riders are advised to have fully charged front and rear blinking lights as some sections of the route venture onto roads. The 3rd Annual SigEp Classic is an esteemed philanthropy golf tournament organized by Sigma Phi Epsilon of Florida State University. Taking place at SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee on February 18th, this event aims to raise over $15,000 for the Collegiate Veterans Association (CVA) at FSU. The CVA is a network dedicated to supporting student veterans in their transition from military to campus life and providing assistance to their families. By participating in this tournament, current brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon will have the opportunity to meet and network with alumni, fostering a sense of camaraderie while enjoying a day on the golf course. In addition, family and friends of current or past brothers are welcome to join. With an 8:30 AM registration and a 9:00 AM shotgun start, participants will engage in 18 hole scramble play, compete in long drive and closest to the pin contests, and enjoy a delicious lunch. The event will also feature raffle drawings, sponsor recognition, and an award ceremony. Support our local veterans as they embark on their college journey by donating to this worthy cause.
