Bridgnorth
Arts
Literary Arts
Join us in Bridgnorth for an evening with bestselling author, broadcaster and national treasure the Reverend Richard Coles as he talks about life and his new novel A Death on Location, the fourth instalment in his Canon Clement mystery series. In the spring of 1990, we return to Champton, where the characters we've come to love are all aflutter as a glamorous Hollywood movie takes over Champton House as its set location. As the actors and extras hired from the village don their farthingales, gowns and crowns for a masque set in the 1600s, a murder interrupts filming on set - and it's an ingenious one . . . Can Daniel solve the mystery with help from his sidekick Detective Sergeant Neil Vanloo - even when things are so sticky between them? Murder Before Evensong, the first Canon Clement novel, has been adapted for television with some of the filming taking place on location in and around Bridgnorth. Starring Matthew Lewis as Daniel Clement and Amanda Redman as his widowed mother, this six part mystery is due air on Channel Five later this year. Richard Coles is without doubt one of the UK’s most distinctive voices. Expect an evening full of anecdotes from a life well lived, gossip, wit and wisdom… Event Format: Author talk 'in conversation' followed by audience Q&A and book signing Tickets: £20 (Admits One and includes a signed copy of A Death on Location) or £30 (Admits Two with one signed copy of A Death on Location) Venue: St Leonard's Church is accessed off Church Street and High Street in Bridgnorth town centre. An Evening with Luke Rowe - Road Captain | Hope Church Oswestry

Cycling
Sports & Fitness
Journey to the heart of pro cycling as Booka Bookshop, in collaboration with Adrenaline Sporting Events, present an evening with Team Sky and Ineos Grenadiers legend, Luke Rowe, talking about his new memoir Road Captain and life at the heart of the peleton. There’s one well-established truth in professional cycling: the strongest always wins. Yet in a sport of champions, victory is only possible as a team. At the heart of that team effort, that unity, is the road captain. After more than a decade as the pre-eminent road captain in professional bike racing, Luke Rowe reveals here for the first time the intricacies of that role. As he lifts the lid, he provides the ultimate insider’s view on racing tactics and strategy within the professional peloton. He gives readers an unprecedented insight into what exactly is going on within that pulsing mass of athletic power and state-of-the-art machinery, seen through the eyes of the rider tasked with leading his team to glory. Featuring exhilarating stories from his years at Team Sky and Ineos Grenadiers – where he played a fundamental role in the team’s dominance at the Tour de France, leading Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas and Egan Bernal to their Tour victories – Luke shows what it’s like to manage a road race unfolding at 60km/h. As he points out, it is ‘like playing chess on wheels’. Road Captain immerses readers in the team dynamics, tactical complexities and split-second decisions vital to success in professional cycling. It discloses the mental and physical battles taking place within a group of riders, and reveals how the biggest bike races are won. We are delighted to be hosting this event in collaboration with Adrenaline Sporting Events and look forward to welcoming Luke Rowe to Oswestry on publication day. Don't miss this opportunity to see and meet him! Event Format: Author talk 'in conversation' followed by audience Q&A, meet and greet / book signing Tickets: £23 (Admits One & includes a signed copy of Road Captain) Venue: Hope Church is accessed off English Walls in Oswestry Town Centre. We would respectfully ask that if you do park on the industrial estate, you do not block anyone in, as other business will be trading on a saturday afternoon. The venue is a 10-15 minute walk from Bournville train station and a one-minute walk from the Pershore Road which is serviced by a number of bus routes. Please do check Saturday timetables. Please take care outside the entrance to the club as this is a road. Stairs/Accessibility The event will all take place on the ground floor of the venue, which has step-free access from the canalside. There is a fully accessible toilet also on ground-level. If you have any mobility/accessibility questions please email kateh@bigfishlittlefishevents.com or contact the venue direct at info@the515club.co.uk Prams/buggies/general kid stuff There is very limited storage space at the venue. Please leave buggies behind if possible - they will not be allowed on the dance floor area as they are a trip hazard. If you do need to bring a buggy, BFLF stewards or venue staff will show you where you can leave it during the event, but please note this may require it to be carried upstairs. SAFETY: Adults remain responsible for their children at all times. This is a family event. Adult only groups are not allowed. The event will be busy. The dancefloor is for adults and children to dance together. Please be aware that events are standing/dancing with limited seating available. Each event is stewarded and risk assessed in advance. The entrance/exit will be manned at all times by BFLF staff. No children will be allowed to leave the event without their adult. We cannot guarantee that sweets/snacks sold on the premises are allergen-free. Battery operated accessories eg light up batons are not permitted at events due to risks associated with circular batteries. Please do not bring these along. Large Groups If attending as a large party please ensure one adult to two children minimum. We will refuse entry to groups where there is inadequate supervision. If there are more than 4 adults per child in your group, or you are planning to bring a large group of children (eg a birthday party) please email kateh@bigfishlittlefishevents.com for pre-approval before buying tickets Each member of your group must have a ticket. Pre-walking infants are free (but ticketed). Sound Level The music level is set and monitored throughout to abide by WHO guidelines. Most parents do not use ear defenders on their children but if yours are particularly sensitive to noise or if you want them to nap then you might want to consider it. Photography/Marketing We may photograph or film small parts of the event and by entering you are giving your permission for these to be used for BFLF promotion purposes When you purchase a ticket through Eventbrite you will automatically get added to our mailing list so that we can send you any important event information as well as future events. You can unsubscribe at any time. Just a reminder... Please be aware that BFLF is designed to provide a family-friendly, authentic club experience and is not a traditional children’s party or disco. There will be no kids' music, games, or DJ shout outs. The effect is to give families unity on the dancefloor – dancing together. DJs will be announced in advance of each party but may be subject to unavoidable change. Information Source: Big Fish Little Fish | eventbrite
